The Clippers’ proposed trade with the New York Knicks has gone through, a source close to the team said Tuesday afternoon. The Clippers traded Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas to the New York Knicks for Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins.
The deal had hit a snag Monday night, when New York raised questions about the condition of Mobley’s heart.
The knicks had Mobley undergo additional testing Tuesday and signed off on the deal shortly thereafter.
So long as the Clippers have a crowded frontcourt, expect those Chris Kaman trade rumors to fester. There are too many teams in the league desperate for help on the block.

Looking forward to seeing Z-bo tomorrow night.
I’m of the opinion that when you have a strength like the Clippers front-court, utilize it. Dont trade it away.
Trading Kaman for a nice 2-guard will sure balance the roster, but will it make the team better? I suggest you use those bigs to punish people down low. Win the battle of the glass consistently. Dont go small against teams like Golden State… make them go big.
Okay, so you dont have a quality starting 2 guard (yet). Eric Gordon is on the train but hasn’t arrived yet (25 points last night notwithstanding). You have a phenomenal point guard who is a natural scorer anyhow and wouldn’t mind taking up the slack for now. You can use Gordon/Davis/Collins at the 2 until further notice.
I think the real problem here is Ricky Davis. He’s supposed to be able to step in and start today but he’s been so horrible through 10 games that it’s hard to imagine Dunleavy sacrificing valuable minutes until he gets his shit together. I really think he can… it doesnt seem like he’s not trying. But sometimes effort isnt good enough.
Interesting times yet again for the Clippers. You have to give them credit for at least keeping our interest through a dismal beginning of the season.

Agreed. Play to our strengths. Force other teams to adjust to our new hulking “Big 3.” But will Dunleavy do that? It used to drive me nuts when he’d start a smaller lineup to ‘match up’ with the likes of GS and PHX.

Don’t forget that MD did use size against Phoenix by putting Q Ross on Nash. Nash was muted and somewhat beat up by the end of that series. If it weren’t for that crazy one week layoff to accommodate a function taking place in Phoenix, the Clips would have had a better chance in game 7 as that one week did Nash and company ALOT of good and killed the Clips momentum after their game 6 blowout.

There has to be another move here. I’m actually a fan of this trade IF…and that’s a big IF… there is another move or will be some serious summer dealings. Kaman, Z, thorton, bd, gordon is a nice line up for the future and puts us right back to where were were before eb fucked us. if there was a move where we could send camby and a draft pick for a wing this line up in the future has potential (of course that’s if kaman and z can play together)… kaman is the most valuable asset, obviously, and anyone we’d get would have to of some serious note to move him. What about camby/thorton for someone like marion? crazy… yeah.. at this point my brain is trying to figure out how these players can all co-exist and when the answer is always they cant i think of the future potential moves.
anyone else in the same boat? all the nacion?

Camby for Marion – maybe. But, Camby AND Thornton for Marion, no? One thing is for sure, NJ is a legit playoff team and VC isn’t going to be on the market until the summer. I’d do Camby for Jason Richardson though. At least he’s played with BDavis.

getting j-rich would mean that EJ doesn’t get to play for 3-4 years…why do people keep suggesting this trade? He was a lottery pick. If they wanted Richardson they’d probably trade Gordon.

Has Randolph ever played on a winning team?

Fire. Dunleavy. Already.

Practically it’s impossible to keep Kaman. Why deposit $40 million a year in the PAINT? (Salaries for: Camby, Randolph & Kaman)
We are going to keep Randolph. And Dunleavy wants to groom DeAndre before the end of this season. We have Paul Davis & Skinner as back-ups.
Thornton gives best value for the money for next 2 seasons. He has steady upside. Clippers like his seriousness & discipline. He gives 200% every game.
We don’t need a scorer in exchange for Kaman. We desperately need atleast 2 defensive minded role players who don’t like to shoot. Whoever wants Kaman they can trade their future draft picks as well.
Baron, Randolph, Thornton & Gordon are more than enough to take care of scoring dept. Let’s have few players who can help them in defensive assignments. These 4 can score 20+ any given night. Why look for a 5th scorer?
Trade Kaman, Ricky & Novak. Sooner the better.

Has Brand played for a winning team?

kaman is the most valuable asset = RIGHT ON. DTS is not going to fire MDsr. MDsr has done a good job adjusting the roster and I’d say let’s see what Zach can do with Kaman & Camby. Perhaps what will be the future is culling of Paul Davis and/or Brian Skinner for a wing who can stick the D.

What? Sterling cares about money. Look at the empty seats, the Clippers are getting killed and it’s Dunleavy’s fault. He’s had 6 years here! Everytime he makes some major change, everyone gets all excited ‘This is gonna fix things’. Wake up. It hasn’t worked for 6 years here. He failed with the Bucks as GM/coach and under-achieved in Portland.

As usually, Simmons is spot on and funny at the same time. At least Ricky got benched.
And I agree, this team has pretty much tuned out Dunleavy already.

“Coach, are you sure you want me to fall down and play dead? What if I just did a ball fake?” HAHAHAH!

I think the Elgin Baylor said it best: Bill Simmons is an asshole. It’s great that he gets paid to be an asshole. Good for him. But I don’t read anything he writes because the guy doesn’t usually base his opinions on much. And this is before this current article.

Ya he is a bit of a “hater” for lack of a better term. Even if you dont agree, he’s quite funny. At least he actually goes to Clippers games and then writes about the disasters instead of just skipping the analysis and using the eternal punchline of “what do you expect, they’re the clippers”.
Regardless, he’s hilarious. REmember the Karate Kid trilogy review he wrote? Here’s a refresher— timeless…

at least bill simmons has a leg to stand on when he writes about the clippers, unlike JA Adande, Marc Stein and others at ESPN. We can find a cure cancer and they’re response is “well, they’re the clippers”.

Actually, I think Simmons knows more about hoops than anyone else writing right now. His commentary is always prescient and insightful — indicated by the fact that his hoops related predictions come true about 85% of the time! I do agree that he’s an asshole, but calling his columns baseless is… well, baseless.
