Dissecting the Side-Screen Roll Since 2006

Price per Pound

Posted by Kevin Arnovitz on December 8, 2008 at 1:34 pm

The New York Post reports:

The Clippers’ Baron Davis is getting paid $250,000 for endorsing a weight-reduction drink. The Clippers privately say that the weight Davis gained to do the endorsement accounted for his slow start. Having signed him to a five-year deal with $62.5 million guaranteed, you can see how they’re not very thrilled by that.

Not sure which premise is more absurd:  A professional athlete putting on weight for a role a la Robert DeNiro in Raging Bull, or the claim that the Clippers’ 4-16 start can be attributed to Baron Davis’ rubenesque physique.

ELTON BRAND took advantage of Clippers & launched his movie production business. NOW we’re seeing the same kind of attitude from Baron.

It’s wrong to keep this man in LA. Send him packing.

Obviously, the issue here is the Clips not being willing to pay out $62.75 million in the first place for a svelte Baron, which would have avoided Baron having to put on the weight for the role.

Similarly, a decade ago, the Bulls were dismayed to learn they were paying big dollars for a dehydrated Michael Jordan so that he could do Gatorade ads.

    I’m Tivo-ing LAC/ORL instead of GSW/OKC tonight. Don’t let me down, Clips.

Davis is our best point guard available they’re is not a lot of good point guards out there. Plus I blame it all to Mike Dunleavy. What head coach will fit with us?
