Dissecting the Side-Screen Roll Since 2006

DeMarcus Nelson Available

Posted by Kevin Arnovitz on January 6, 2009 at 11:13 am

Golden State waived Nelson during yesterday’s bloodletting of non-guaranteed contacts, a purging that also claimed Shaun Livingston.

This comes as little surprise because Nelson’s strengths — the ability to defend three positions, a strong mid-range shot, a nuanced dribble game despite not being a pure PG — aren’t things that Golden State coach Don Nelson values all that much.  On the other hand, Mike Dunleavy has a certain affinity for guards like the 6′ 5″ Duke grad.  Given the other options out there — did I really see Troy Hudson on a target list? — DeMarcus Nelson would represent a considerable upgrade over that group.

We lost 4 PG’s in a row. Wondering why point guards are getting injured under Dunleavy.

    Kevin, please investigate this issue.

    does it really matter? seriously?

I have no problem with the recent shakeup. You cant keep going with the status quo. Paul Davis was one of the main culprits of their ZERO bench productivity, even when the club was playing well upon ZBO’s arrival.

I cant believe we are back to the “who is going to play PG” game that has been going on every year i’ve been a clipper fan except 2006.

Not another Dukie please…but if we’re going to pull the trigger on DeMarcus Nelson, at least bring Shaun back as well. Jasen Powell has been working over time this year making sure that all of our guys get ample time on the injured list. Somebody needs to stop his bloody carnage before Dunleavy and Kim Hughes end up with torn ACL as well.

They should of let go of Paul Davis before of letting go of Josh Powell. I think Josh Powell was a better player than Paul Davis.

Jasen Powell is the Clippers trainer. Josh Powell was our PF last year before the we released him to the Lakers.

Which I thought was a mistake, I liked what Josh Powell was doing last season when given some minutes
