Peter Newmann, researcher extraordinaire at ESPN, tells me that on February 3, 1998, Bill Fitch tied Red Auerbach for second place with 938 all-time coaching victories as the Clippers defeated Utah, 111-102.
Note the positively Odomian line from Lorenzen Wright in his sophomore campaign. Nice effort from former SEC standout James “Hollywood” Robinson coming off the bench. Robinson went 21st overall in the 1993 Draft to Portland, a few spots ahead of Sam Cassell.

How bout we trade BD to Orlando for future 1st rounders and expiring contracts so we can do this crazy free agent thing again next summer? Last summer was the best time to be a Clip fan.
You know they’d do it with Jameer going down with the injury… (they might not even watch the tapes to see how bad BD sucks!)

Wow! I went to 6th grade with Stojko Vrankovic’s daughter in palos verdes. She got me autographs from this whole team! Nice reference KA! Go clips…

Wow…that was a truly awful team…that somehow has a better record than our current team. Pooh Richardson! Lamond Murray! Maybe one day in the distant future, we will look back on this team and think…we had Baron Davis! Ricky Davis! How were we able to win 10 games?

Any way to post that article? I usually don’t care what ESPN writers have to say, except Kevin, but I still wanna see what Broussard is bitching about.

Hopefully one of the five keys to the Clippers rebuilding is dropping a piano on Dunleavy’s head.

i don’t agree with the trade BD clatter, he is going to make fools of all the “fans” who jumped ship so early…but i like this suggestion:
2 ) Hire Eddie Jordan as Coach
Mike Dunleavy is a good coach, but he’s been with the Clippers for six years. That’s far too long for a team that’s gone nowhere. Given that Dunleavy knows the game, and happens to be owed more than $5 million for each of the next two seasons, the Clips should keep him around as the GM. But in Eddie Jordan, they’ll add a coach with a winning pedigree who plays up-tempo basketball and features the Princeton offense. Jordan helped turn a similarly moribund club in Washington into a perennial playoff team despite suffering several injuries to key players.

I dont know about all the other fans, but I enjoyed watching the Clips back then…they played with more heart despite the lack of talent on the roster. Lamond Murray had a sweet high arching outside shot and Rodney Rogers was a monster in the low post.
Looking back on the players on that roster and their respective salary, and comparing it with the players on the current roster and the monster contracts (also considering inflation rates, etc)…makes you wonder if this year’s failed season is a player issue or a coaching issue?
Clips have to fire Dunleavy as a coach. This is a must, and Sterling needs to see this…
