Tonight will be the first game I’ll be unable to watch in the past two seasons. I might be able to catch a League Pass Broadband archive, but on Sunday night at the earliest.
That being the case, I’d like to open up recap duties to the community here. Whether you’re a regular commenter, a devoted reader, an occasional lurker, or a newbie, please record your thoughts after the game in the comments section. I’ll make a concerted effort to compile the best points into a communal recap in sometime tomorrow morning.
This is probably as good a time as any to thank you for your readership. Without you, this blog is merely the ramblings of an obsessive. You make it a whole lot more.

Another exciting saturday night of typing work files and watching Clipper basketball. Kill me now.
on the plus side; Clips feed on the league pass (always enjoy Ralph),
Zach and EJ are back and Granger and MDjr are out (Jr getting knee surgery).
I’ll try to make multiple posts
Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 7:40 pm
Starting line ups:
F.Jones, Al T, DeAndre J, EJ, M Taylor (no zach? they showed him walking up the tunnel)
M.Daniels, R. Nesterovich, T. Murphy, J. Jack, T.J. Ford
Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 7:43 pm
EJ balling out of the gate, hits 2 3′s and then steals and drives the length to score Clips first 8 pts.
Ralph and Mike compare Mike T to a young T.Parker. I dont’t watch Spurs often so I can’t say what TP looked like as a rook. Also not sure what kind of tail Taylor pulls, but Eva is hard to top.
This group look alive through the 1st qtr. DJ lively with a nice tip in off a FJ miss.
T.Murphy must have at least acouple of Mr Ed’s chromosomes.
They just showed Zach in uni looking ready to play.
1:55 to go in 1st and Clips up by 9 and looking good.
Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 7:57 pm
Zach in and scores right away off a nice bounce from Mardy. Acker makes an appearance. Mardy gets 3 fouls in a hurry in the final 2 mins. of 1st.

How come Davis isnt playing and Coach should give DeAndre minutes the rest of the season. He needs to devope for next year,he has talent..Thoughts??
Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 8:09 pm
They haven’t mentioned why BD is out. But the group looks better without him.
Hibbard is out due to family death.

First team to play any D will win…Your right …this group is more fun to watch..They all have alot to prove to themselves and others in the league…
Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 8:14 pm
pacers don’t look particularly better to me but all of a sudden rally back through begining of 2nd to tak eht elkead. EJ takes next possession and hits his 3rd 3. Zach bullies foster to get the bucket and the foul.
Kaman interview. Gives a nod to Taylor and Gordon. ‘Watching lotta movies and kinda chillin’ during downtime.

Anyone out there??Just the two of us!!! If Kanan practiced fullcourt at the last practice and says he can play on Tuesday..Why not tonight knowing Davis is out?? Also why havnt they sais why Davis is missing??
Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 8:22 pm
I bet Davis decided not to play because he’s a baby and he’s pouting about Sterling ripping him a new one in the locker room.
Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 8:25 pm
Hey Welcome Stythe!! Taylor and DeAndre brings fun to the game!!!
Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 8:28 pm
Ej with another nice 3. then a bit of slugginsh back and forth. then a nice sequence where DJ block somone and Taylor drives and scores at 3:18 and then I look up and F.Jones steals and drives and dunks at 3:05 and pacers call time.
Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 8:29 pm
8:28PM PST…Are you watching this?!?!? Mike Taylor, DeAndre Jordan, Fred Jones, Eric Gordon…running like MOFOS and playing like madmen!!! They are up by 11!!!

:58 DJ blocks Jack, then down the court, Taylor lobs to DJ for a one handed jam.
:29 DJ another block and then Al T with a nice bucket.
This tsrating line up has some groove going. Real nice!
Up 13 at the half. EJ with 22.

At the game trying to find out why no Camby or Baron. To be honest these guys run more and play better without Baron.
Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 8:42 pm
I find it strange that Davis is not on the bench and no mention on why he is not playing..Also why couldnt Kanan play tonight knowing that Davis and Camby are out..
Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 9:02 pm
Starting 5 opend 3rd. Mike says it’s 1st time Clips started 3 rooks in 20 years.
pace slows a bit and pacers eat away at lead. 15 pt. lead down to 6 with 6:47 in 3rd.
Granger interview. Works out in LA during offseason.
Audible ‘You suck Dunleavey’ in background.
Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 9:03 pm
This coach is bad.. How about putting Randolph on the low post and why not play Novak instead of Acker…Acker does nothing…Thoughts??
Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
Acker has better speed than Novak. Novak tries on D but doesn’t have the natural athleticism that Acker does.

Lawlor’s law: 101-92 at 7:17.
Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 9:31 pm

Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 9:43 pm
melt down in effect
2:35 bogus loose ball foul on Al. Rush hits both.
Bunch of missed shots.
:44 Jack gets bucket and foul. pacers up 106-105.
:30 Taylor loses ball.
:23 time out clips
12-2 run by pacers.
Pacers try 3 and miss.
:05 clips ball full time out :05.2 to go

Jones in to EJ, drives to hoop and gets blocked by Daniels to lose by 1.
Yup. Another classic.

now that livingston is a d-leaguer and thus not an opposing nba team member, does that mean it’s cool to wear his jersey again?
or better yet, why don’t we just waive ricky davis and sign him? dunleavy can have a ball with his matchups, and everyone’s happy.

You still have your Livingston jersey? Should that have gone to Goodwill like 2 years ago?
We definitely need to buy out Ricky – he is done – but most certainly not to bring back SL. Let him rot in Tulsa and think about that 2-yr guaranteed deal the Clippers offered and he arrogantly turned down because it wasn’t good enough for ‘the next Magic Johnson.’
Posted on March 7th, 2009 at 10:28 pm
Oh so close……. but no cigar!
Too bad EJ couldn’t make that last shot to cap his awesome game!
It was so good to see Al Thornton FINALLY play within himself and unselfishly without Baron out there but then he blows that dunk and gets totally screwed by the refs on the next play. That’s what tilted the game for right there.
I like our young guns a lot – lots of promise between EJ, DJ and Taylor. All we need is another starting caliber PG, get Baron out the door this summer, and shore up the SF spot.

b. davis is out with a “sore hamstring”
r. davis out with a sore knee
camby out with migraines
kaman… well everyone knows why
rookie mistake by gordon expecting a foul in the last possession with only a couple seconds on the clock.
in the last SEVEN minutes of the game the clippers went score less during that time gordon didn’t attempt any shots besides the last possession. EJ had the hot hand and no one passed, its almost as if everyone wants to create for themselves get their stats up… instead of having a team first so we can win mindset besides EJ.
he was the only one getting the ball to randolph because of the mismatch. sometimes watching these clippers games are really tough, the way they go down and the way they put themselves out of the game sigh

Hey Mrs. DUNCELeavy you are the last person to call anyone out….
Answer this one, why didn’t Randolph start and play more than 28 minutes tonight? Answer: Because in his mind if a player misses a few games he doesn’t start.
So Camby is out, Fat Baron is out, and he doesn’t start his leading scorer…..man what a tactician.
Mrs. D, as penalty don’t give it up tonight.

Well, Suck-tion113, last time I checked Gordon missed a few games as well and he started tonight. So much for your ‘in Dunleavy’s mind if a player misses a few games he doesn’t start’ theory. Zach wasn’t on any court all week and just flew in for tonight’s game after losing his dad – makes perfect sense why he’d play less and not start. Did you also have a problem with our horribly coached 13-point half-time lead without Zach as the starter?

There you go again, using an incredibly small sample size as evidence, in this case one half of play. So are you saying the Clippers are better without Randolph?
If the guy is capable of playing 28 minutes, he is capable of playing 35-40, yes you are correct that he didn’t do it with Gordon, but this is a DUNCEleavy trait that has been in evidence for 6 years now…and it is ludicrous. And if there had ever been a game where Z-Bo’s one dimensional game was called for it was last evening…but no.
MRS. D, what did you make for Coach DUNCE for breakfast.

Breakdown of the last 6:33, after Eric Gordon hits a free throw to push the lead to 8, Clippers 102 – Pacers 94.
4 turnovers, 2 offensive fouls, and only 1 shot attempt each for Zach Randolph and Eric Gordon. Clippers get outscored 12-3 in the final 6:33, and that’s your ballgame.
This sort of thing happens all the time to young teams that are not used to protecting a lead in the final few minutes. You just can’t afford to go on that big of a scoring drought to end a game. The Clippers let multiple chances slip away, and you have to wonder if Baron Davis could have been the guy to seal the deal with one of his trademark daggers. The Clippers signed Baron for exactly this reason, to put games away for them in crunch time. But perhaps representative of his season thus far, his whereabouts are unknown.
Mike Taylor shows why it’s very hard for a rookie point guard to have success in the league tonight, pretty much self-destructing down the stretch.
These are the types of games that feed in to the theory that when this team finally gets healthy, they can compete in the West.

Tonight our youth and inexperience definitely showed down the stretch. Guys bricked too many FTs, fumbled it a couple of times, missed a wide open dunk, got a really bad call at the worst possible time, shot a 3 with the lead instead of taking it inside for a safe(r) 2, and didn’t get the breaks they needed to put it away. The whole team got too timid and was too worried about not losing (the lead). That’s when you normally choke. And we did just that.
Baron hasn’t been very clutch for us so I don’t think he was missed. For one, he continually sucks the energy out of this team when he is out there, and our energy got us that nice lead in the first half. Also, with Baron on the court Gordon gets less shots – and he was the hot hand for us tonight. We would’ve likely lost this game way more decisively with Baron.
I’m a lot more interested in seeing Kaman out there and getting our CK / Z-Bo / Camby / Jordan big man rotation dialed in for the last 20 games than having Baron disrupting everything with his negative presence. Let’s give Taylor as many minutes as possible and so he can learn to play with these guys. He is part of our future – Baron was an unfortunate chapter that will hopefully come to a close this summer.
Posted on March 8th, 2009 at 12:26 am
We did lose a heartbreaker… but I’d rather see the rest of the season played with these young guys (plus Camby) than putting up with Baron. Good to see the young guys care, perhaps it is time to turn the team over to them. Ship Baron out, and fire Dunleavy… Who’s with me… say AYE!
Posted on March 8th, 2009 at 12:46 am
Bummer. I’m a bit of a Dunleavy defender, but I think this loss is on him. I don’t mind giving up the half-time lead, since the Pacers clearly weren’t going away. They played well and made a game of it. Still, in the last couple of minutes, when we absolutely NEEDED a basket, I thought they should have gone to Zach in the post. But instead, the last three or four possessions were just ugly. You could tell guys were afraid. They were playing not to lose instead of playing to win. I would have let Gordon take the final shot, but I think they should of gone to Zach down low in any of the three possessions before that.
I’m starting to agree that Baron’s probably not going to work out too. Just had a gut feeling that it wouldn’t have made a difference for us if he’d played tonight. I thought we would have won if Camby had been able to play though.

Baron doesn’t fit because of the wack ass coach. I really hope Sterling has the balls to fire Dumbleavy and bring in a young coach (cheap) that will let our players play. Baron is an exciting player, only if you let him run the team on the floor. I get really annoyed when I watch the games on FSW or KTLA and all you hear is Dumbleavy’s screaming every freaking possession and on the defensive side. A good NBA coach will trust their players on the floor and make them create plays. Last night’s game was an embarrassment, both teams had star players missing in action however the Clippers had the better team, but we still lost. Give me a break, I’m tired of seeing the same outcome every game. No wonder I gave up my season tickets a couple years ago. I will not consider buying season tickets unless Dumbleavy is out.
Posted on March 8th, 2009 at 8:03 am
Don’t blame Dunleavy. He just did a favor to his son by losing. Pacers are still playing for that 8th spot.
Lost so many games. why not this one? You don’t force Mike Taylor to run the team when the win is within reach & Jones, Gordon & Collins were in full control. Then came Taylor. And we didn’t make a basket after he stepped in!
Mike Taylor is still a rookie & needs more exposure.
Posted on March 8th, 2009 at 8:07 am
So many games lost, but aren’t we tired of losing? I am. We’re writing about how Baron has not been a success, but he has not been in a Clipper uniform for 1 year, and we’re already talkin’ all this crap? Dunleavy is to blame, his coaching style is played out. Dunleavy: GM & Coach of the Clippers = The New Isiah Thomas.

Good game to watch. Perfect ending. Every loss at this point helps us have a better chance in the lottery. Winning is for morons when the season is a lost cause.
Posted on March 8th, 2009 at 10:37 am
O.k., I posted this in the wrong sections – so it’s a repeat if you’ve seen it already.
First, it was geat to see some effort last night. Second, like I’ve said, they drafted a great group of players.
But, and there’s always a but with the Clippers. You’ve got Gordon going for 30+ in the first three quarters, and how many touches in the 4th? A basic rule of bk is keep going to the guy with the hot hand until he cools off. The Pacers didn’t do anything diff. to Gordon in the 4th than they did in the 3rd. I can just hear coach, “now their going to focus on Gordon because he’s having one hell of a game and could finish with 50, so Eric, I want you to be an assist guy in the fourth. That will really through them off.”
