You all make good points – Isiah would be the worst thing ever… Ricky and Starbury would put on an insane debauchery fest… Good that they are looking to make a change but done in bad form… Chris Mullin would make too much sense and this is our beloved Clippers we are talking about. I say we e-mail Bill Simmons and push him into somehow getting the GM job, it would at least be a lot more fun to watch what he does with the team.

I believe that it would be a possibility but I think that Sterling wants to keep him in some capacity and then he would be paying double by hiring another coach and gm. With him losing significant money on the franchise for the first time in awhile I doubt he would do it. I personally would prefer Flip to Eddie Jordan. What other viable candidates do people know of that are out there for a coach that you think would work with the roster we currently have?

People want Mullie? are you kiddng me? I loved Run TMC too but CM paid millions to Adonal Foyle. 10 mil per season to Maggette when no one else was offering more than 6. 10 mil per season to Adrian Beidrins. Mullins is like Dunleavy in that he is great at finding bench guys only he pays them like starters.

Mullin may actually be a good fit. Yes, he gave outrageous contracts to Adonal Foyle, Derek Fisher, and Troy Murphy, but that was in the beginning of his tenure. He DID manage to trade away all of those ridiculous deals, bringing in Baron Davis, Al Harrington, and Stephen Jackson. The Warriors would also have been much better off had Nellie not forced the J-Rich move to bring in perenial All-Star Brandon Wright. No one can argue against those deals for Monta and Biedrins. Those are fair market deals, Biedrins, when healthy is putting up great numbers. The deal for Maggette and the decision to let Baron walk lie with Robert Rowell, a guy who knows NOTHING about the game. I say Bring Mullin in, he fired Mike Montgomery, maybe he can do the same with MDSr. Not to mention the pre-existing relationship with Baron Davis who has been made to look like a lost cause by the coaching “system” we use.

First, whoever coaches the team for the next two years is immaterial. I don’t care if it’s Dunleavy, Eddie Jordan or Larry Brown. A coach can only ruin a team for one year. A GM can ruin it for five years and that’s exactly what Dunleavy has done as GM.

The potential problem with having a coach and GM in the same person was perfectly exemplified with both Isaiah and Dunleavy. When a coach struggles to be competitive, he wants help NOW!… He knows his job depends on it. Thus, Dunleavy and Isaiah both had the power to desperately go after immediate personnel improvements, mortgaging the team’s future by bringing in stat making losers in hopes that they could solve some immediate problems. It was desperation time. Nothing was thought through beyond one year… It was a huge gamble and why not take it? “Coach” Dunleavy knows he’ll only be here another year or two at best. “GM” Dunleavy was more than happy to facilitate that gamble… Both Isaiah and Dunleavy not only made their immediate problems worse by bringing in lazy “star” players with a history of losing, but the damage they’ve done will remain long after they’re gone.

There is a reason these “star” players are available. Because the teams they were on weren’t winning with them.

I don’t care if Dunleavy stays as coach for another year. It’s not going to matter. They’re going to stink for the next couple years no matter who coaches, because whoever they bring in to be GM is going to have to spend the next two years cleaning up Dunleavy’s personnel mess. GM Dunleavy must go before he does any more long-term damage.

The new GM must unload Zach and Baron at the very least, and start building with youth. Perhaps he can get something for Camby’s expiring contract, but there is no reason to keep anyone on this team older than 26, unless he’s a character guy who comes cheaply.

It’s time to start stocking up on future draft picks like Portland did. What do we have to lose? Nothing could be worse than this year.

I think Dunleavy will make a good GM. He got players that could score, now if he did not make any moves how will the bench look like. The main problem is chemistry.
