Dissecting the Side-Screen Roll Since 2006

Morning Roundup

Posted by Kevin Arnovitz On April 14, 2009 at 8:17 am
  • Ross Siler of the Salt Lake Tribune: “The Clippers are probably five times as talented as the Golden State team that beat the Jazz with seven players on Saturday, but they sure didn’t play like it. Baron Davis – - no C.J. Watson – - was 1-for-13 and finished with three points and seven assists. For the game, the Clippers went 5-for-19 from three-point range, got to the foul line less than half as much as the Jazz and were outrebounded 50-36 and outscored 23-7 on second chance points.”
  • Know what else is on the line tomorrow night when the Thunder and Clippers face off at Staples Center?  The battle for 29th and 30th in Offensive Efficiency!  The Clippers clawed their way out of the basement about a week ago, and have maintained a paper thin 0.1 point per 100 possession edge over OKC ever since.
  • Ian Thomsen at SI.com is the latest to discover Eric Gordon.  Eric’s two toughest covers this season? “I would say Dwyane Wade was the hardest guy for me to guard this year … He and Brandon Roy were the two toughest guys.’
  • Mike Taylor: One reason to get to the game early.
  • Mike Taylor: One reason not leave the game early.  Taylor still isn’t a natural passer, but he’s gotten pretty proficient at finding his trailers, especially when he’s driving baseline.
  • One of the fixtures on NBA League Pass over the past couple of days is hearing broadcast teams thank the crews for their season of service.  With the regular season coming to a merciful end tomorrow night, I’d like to thank Mike Fiske, who has made this endeavor possible for more than three years.  He also helped me install a new HDTV the other day, a process during which we determined via the very cool A Level iPhone app that my house has settled into the hillside on a slant — which may or may not explain my imbalance.

  1. Chris. Said,

so Camby, Kaman and Jordan get outrebounded by that much and give up that many 2nd chance points… guess the 3 big guys thing isn’t quite working out the way Dunleavy planned… go figure! Fortunately Camby’s contract is worth something compared to Kaman and Randolph and Jordan is cheap! Another summer of a lot of moves i’m guessing (and hoping).

lol, hopefully the exciting summer we had last summer doesn’t ruin my hopes and dreams again. what i was thinking that last summer was anything other than “stupid moves”. at least it is more exciting than the regular season though.

  2. Sam Mays Said,

This season and our rebounding woes is an indicator of how good Brand really was for us. Bring back EB.

Really, three guys to replace one and they don’t even compare.

  3. Sam Mays Said,

Say what you will about how Brand left, but he brought it every night at both ends of the floor and fit perfectly into Dunleavy’s system.

  4. Frank The Tank Said,

I would keep Camby because he’ll help Jordan grow into a quality center. I would get rid of Randolph, Davis, and Kaman there not efficient at all not in good conditioning and they get injured a lot. I would draft another point guard like Ricky Rubio he’s supposed to be good. I think he will not end up as a disappointment. Baron Davis isn’t the right guy adapting to Dunleavy’s system. Reason why i wouldn’t draft Harden is because he’s undersized and not atheltic. Eric Gordon is faster than Harden. I heard Harden is the next Manu Ginoboli. We could draft a SF/PF (Wing Player/Post Player) multidimensional player in the late 1st or early second round as a real steal who can play some hard nosed defense like Nicholas Batum he’s good in defensive effieciency.
