Dissecting the Side-Screen Roll Since 2006

Clippers Are Kicking the Tires on Dahntay Jones

Posted by Kevin Arnovitz On July 8, 2009 at 9:40 am

Sources close to Dahntay Jones have confirmed that preliminary, but substantive, conversations between the Denver guard’s camp and the Clippers are underway. The source emphasized that the Clips are among a few teams looking at Jones, but that the most likely scenario has him returning to Denver.

Although Jones doesn’t have much of an offensive game (9.67, 13.59, 9.07 PER the past three seasons), he posted very strong defensive numbers for the Nuggets both in the regular season and the playoffs. The Clippers are searching for a capable defensive stopper on the wing to pick up some of the more difficult assignments, and the 6-6 Jones could be a nice piece at the right price.

UPDATE: Jones gets four years and $11M from Indiana, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Ditto. Jones would be good to start at the 3. He’s comfortable with starting, and our most successful year was having Q-Ross start over Maggette. Jones with Al off the bench sounds good to me. Still want Marion on a one year, though…

No more one dimensional players…if we get a free agent, get someone that is worth it on both ends.

Looks like Dallas wants to compete next season. They signed Q. Ross and are working on signing Marion as well.

  8. John Said,

That trip was one of the dirtier and more undeniable dirty plays I can think of. As far as how that concerns him being a Clipper, it really doesn’t. A nice cheap option that fills some needs.

They’re charging $15 to watch the vegas summer league games on the internet this year. It’s probably worth the $15, but it was free last year. I hope the quality is better than last year though.

Everyone is a “piece.” What a stupid word. How about a nice player or something simple and not stupid like “piece.” That is Dunce speak.

    [Reply]

    andrew

    andrew Reply:

not really. A piece is a player that will actually fit into our roster. example, tayshaun prince is a piece, Kwame Brown is not.
