The 6-2, 225-pound guard Fred Jones has agreed to terms with the Italian team Biella Angelico. The American has officially agreed to a one-year deal.
In 2004 Jones won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, beating out ex-champion Jason Richardson.
Jones was a member of the Indiana Pacers, the Toronto Raptors, the Portland Trail Blazers, the New York Knicks and last season he played in Los Angeles for the Clippers.
Last season Jones appeared in 52 games for the Clippers and totalled 7.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
The Los Angeles Clippers introduced Rasual Butler this afternoon to the local media at their training facility in Playa Vista. For those keeping a tally of what’s become of Zach Randolph, Clippers general manager and head coach Mike Dunleavy has now spun him off for the following:
The Clippers finally sealed their radio broadcast deal. From the Clippers release:
The Los Angeles Clippers today announced that the team has entered into an exclusive multi-year radio broadcast rights agreement with KFWB 980 AM. The broadcast agreement will cover all preseason, regular season and postseason games. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Since the 1950’s, KFWB has been a leader in the Los Angeles media marketplace, so we’re honored to be part of their long tradition,” stated Los Angeles Clippers’ President Andy Roeser. “Also, this long term relationship represents a tremendous development for our fans: no conflicts, a strong signal, with a strong adjacent programming schedule and supportive partners.”
Rasual Butler’s cap number was $4,045,000, but $100,000 of that was a bonus/incentive for “team achievements.” The Hornets, in turn, get that $4.045M as a trade exception.
The Clippers, meanwhile, absorb Butler using $3,945,000 of their $7.3M trade exception from the Randolph-Richardson deal. They don’t have to account for the $100,000 bonus/incentive in their cap number.
That leaves the Clips with a $3,355,000 trade exception.
For all practical purposes, the Clippers have now effectively moved Zach Randolph for Craig Smith, Mark Madsen, Sebastian Telfair, Rasual Butler, and a $3,355,000 trade exception.
