The Los Angeles Clippers today announced that the team has re-signed restricted free agent forward Steve Novak. Per team policy terms of the deal were not announced.
In 71 games played for the Clippers last season, Novak averaged 6.9 points in 16.4 minutes per game. Completing his third NBA season, the sharpshooter out of Marquette connected on 119-286 three-pointers (.416) on the year.
Novak personifies specialism. He’s one of only 21 players in the NBA whose true shooting percentage exceeded 60 percent in 2008-09, and he was top in that category and in turnovers among the league’s 60 qualified small forwards.
In short, Novak is a catch-and-shoot virtuoso, something that will come in handier than ever in 2009-10 as defenses will have to attend to both the interior (Blake Griffin, a presumably healthy Chris Kaman on the right block) and exterior (Eric Gordon, a possibly recommitted Baron Davis).

I can see it now ; Ball dumped into Griffin, he dances around his defender, gets to the rim and finishes with a slam!
Now Griffin draws a double team, kicks out top to Baron, Who then passes to Novak on the corner for a 3!!
Baron walks up court, holds at top of the key. Hands of to Gordon and moves away. Gordon goes 1 on 1 , blasts past his man, goes to the hoop. +2
I am making it sound too easy.

Great signing Clippers. Novak is one of the best shooters in the league and every great team needs a shooter.

We have some good 3 point shooters on this year’s Clippers squad. Between Novak, Butler, and Gordon, thats some good Bingos.
