You’re right- at least the second unit is playing with some energy. If mistakes come because the energy level is too high, you can live with that, but that certainly wasn’t the case with the first unit.
It will be interesting to see if Baron starts the second half- he didn’t play at all in the second quarter and may be hurting a bit. Telfair and his unit were much more effective anyway.
Baron needs to step it up or bassy will start tomorrow. Why don’t they have Gordon and butler on the floor at the same time? They could be spreading the floor for our bigs.
sorry Jordan did play…..how could Smith shoot over 56% last year for Minn. and only avg. 10 points a game..Why didnt he get more shots and pt??? Anyone know?
Good question- my guess would be that he didn’t get a lot of looks because Minnesota preferred to run their offense through Jefferson and Love. He was also in foul trouble a lot when he played extended minutes, so that many have something to do with it.
i cringe anytime the ball goes anywhere near Chris Kaman
oh and
we are playing horrible….Baron Davis looks lost this early….the Clippers better play well and not feel sorry for themselves or they are going to lose the little fan support they still have….
luckily we play the Suns tomorrow and they suck
I like Kaman shooting the ball with 1 dribble or less like he is doing, but a lot of them are outside shots and I’m not as confident as those but at least they’re closer than Baron’s shot tonight. Come on BD, you should own the opposing PG’s.
Clippers just barely hanging around…gotta figure the Lakers will step on the gas soon here. Start of the 4th will be the time the Clippers will have to make their run against the Lakers bench.
Thorton can’t do anything right tonight except get crappy rebounds. His shot selection leaves everything to be desired. Oh me oh my! I wish it was Ralph’s voice I was listening to.
Clippers really need to come out and make their run while the Lakers starters (presumably) rest to start the 4th. Telfair and Craig Smith need to be on the floor here.

For what it’s worth we were one of the worst teams in the NBA last year and up until the 4th quarter with some spurts it was a 1 point game with the defending champions. Positive thoughts, right?
Down 7, 25 seconds left…and no foul? At least give yourself one more chance to cut it to a two possession game. Hate it when teams admit defeat when there’s still a 1% chance they could win.
18pt. 16reb for Kaman is a pretty solid start. Now he needs to play some more defense.
Overall, bittersweet effort by the clips. Baron was abysmal, Thorton sucks, but second unit was impressive. Gordon, Smith, and Kaman had good starts, Butler needs to do better.
Oh yeah, and Dunleavy is an awful a coach. He is going to cost this team 9-12 wins this year.

Gordon, Kaman & Camby where good for our starters, but unfortunately Baron & Thorton were that bad. Our 2nd unit was by far better, especially Telfair & Smith but Butler wasn’t his pre-season self at all. oy, not bad but not great. Hopefully the Clippers have enough energy for the new uptempo Suns tomorrow night. This 4 games in 5 nights to start out the season is kinda brutal if you ask me.
Well it was the Lakers, I don’t think they’re gonna lose much this years. Can’t get down on them that much for losing to them. Another 4th quarter collapse though. Next 2 games Clippers play 2 teams that are competing for the lower playoff seeds.
Kaman looked ok, maybe someone will want to trade for him. Did the Clippers run more? Not really.
That was the best when Baron threw up a brick and the announcers were like “that was the best looking shot tonight from Baron Davis”… he missed. So funny, just what you want from your 65 million dollar man….
OK, let’s be clear we wouldn’t have won this game with Griffin. We lost this because Baron couldn’t shoot worth a lick. 1-10. Really? No one else could take a shot? Egad.
No moral victories, but this once could have been over 2-3 times if the effort wasn’t there. I like this team with or without Griffin. Obviously Baron needs to find his shot. It’s shocking that he could go from a 20pt/game scorer to this so quickly. Very impressed with Bassy, very impressed with Smith. We need someone who can step up and score in 4th on isos/picknroll. Not every play, but you have to go to it when you really need a bucket, and it has to work. A win tomorrow would go a long way.
Typical Dunleavy. We get within 1 after the 3rd quarter and we’re starting to make our run. Then of course, he takes out our most consistent scorer in Eric Gordon. Smart move.
I rarely agree with Kenny Smith, but he nailed it on the head in the TNT post game tonight. This team does not have anyone who can finish in the fourth quarter. That’s what we are missing at the 1 and 3. Baron hasn’t really been able to do it since he did that miracle playoff run over three years ago. People forget Ellis and Jackson were the key to them barely making the playoffs the following year. Gordon may eventually be that player, but not yet. Kaman and Camby are great 3 quarter players but they can’t make the big shot to keep you in the game or win it in the fourth. Shoot, even Tim Thomas and Cutino Mobley could make that shot more than anyone we have now! That’s what we are missing with F-Elton and Cassell gone (although arguably F-Elton can’t do that anymore either…). And as great as Blake may be, until he gets a jumper, he won’t be that player either. So, when the 32 win predictions come true, that’s why. They can play “hard” till the cows come home, but what you are is what you are. And unless Baron magically turns into the player he was over three years ago, that’s what they are.

That was the best when Baron threw up a brick and the announcers were like “that was the best looking shot tonight from Baron Davis”… he missed. So funny, just what you want from your 65 million dollar man….

thornton nor butler are not reliable. we need a solid long time SF… look at Anthony and James…
Davis is hurt right now let him rest and throw Mardy Collins in there

Tonite reminded why I wanted to KILL Baron Davis last year.
How stupid do you have to be to take shot after shot on a gimpy leg instead of deferring to your teammates, especially one Eric Gordon?
AAAAARGGHHH!
