  1. FireDunleavy .com Said,

Cont.. from last post about the HoopsHype Dunleavy getting fired. Sounds to good to be true.
I love the last part about Dunleavy refusing to only be GM.
The question is does that void his contract? I would think he would still get paid, because his job is coach and he probably volunteered to be GM. Or he just takes over GM responsibilites. Anyone knows how that would work?

I got the impression that the contract would remain intact and that he would just relinquish his coaching duties. That’s a good question though – let me see what kind of info I can dig up on that scenario.

  2. Waiting for Post-Sterling Clippers team Said,

There’s a good news for Clipper fans.

Be patient. The day will come when this Clipper team will be owned by a different owner and stationed in a different city. And the Coach is not going to be one Mr.Dunleavy.

Post Alvin Gentry Clippers(except for Cassell induced season) have been a chain of blunder after blunder. Hopefully things will get better once Clipper team losens itself from the clutches of Sterling.

You guys do so much great analysis on CB, but you fail to bring up the most glaring thing about this team. A blind man can see it, these guys don’t want to play hard for Dunleavy. They don’t like him. Right or wrong, it’s much easier to replace 1 coach than 12 players.

Bill Simmons had all the stats on Dunleavy, no coach has been this unsuccessful for this long and has kept his job.

While I hate to jump on the Dunleavy hate train, but since there has only been one common denominator over the years, this guy has to go. Whether these losses are his fault or not, he’s just not impacting the team. I am utterly disgusted right now, and so ashamed to have witnessed a 22 pt swing.

so disappointed with the season thus far.

At long last, I’m completely on the bandwagon. I don’t mind if Dunleavy’s the GM, but I’m in total agreement with what’s been said above (and, you know, for years):

FIRE DUNLEAVY as coach. Tomorrow. Can’t happen soon enough. Won’t go to any more Clipper games till he’s gone, won’t watch.

The team certainly bears some responsibility. Injuries do matter. But I’m so sick of our mediocrity, and our 20-something point swing tonight — our newest second-half collapse — reminds me: change starts at the top.

Dude… Butler was very good on the Hornets but you know why? Because the system there alowd him to actually play his role. This guy is a good defender and a good spot up shooter but the coaching staff hasnt made any adjustments and told him his role on the team I suppose? The fact that players stop being as good when they come to the Clippers is a big fault to team management.
    but what else is new…

    kenji Reply:

you can’t blame the system on butler’s crappy shooting this year. the fact remains that he isn’t hitting his shots and getting beat on defense. the system has nothing to do with being able to defend his assigned player. the problem is him. i say bench his ass. maybe sitting on the bench for an extended period of games during his contract year will get him to work harder.

  36. BillyS Said,

Bill Simmons on Dunleavy haha———-Best of all, I have Mike Dunleavy, someone who is so bad at his job that on Wednesday night — after I walked out of a game in which he waited 47 minutes and 22 seconds to insert Steve Novak (his only decent outside shooter with Eric Gordon sidelined) in the game to “spread the floor,” which would have been fine if Novak wasn’t ice-cold, although that’s what made it so fantastically abysmal, the fact that Dunleavy probably broke the career record for “Most Times Putting An Ice-Cold Guy into the Biggest Possession of a Close Game” — I said to two of my Section 102 friends (Jesse and Lenny) as we were leaving, “I’m actually going to miss games like that when they finally fire Dunleavy. I feel like we’re watching a level of incompetence on a daily basis that transcends sports and might be something I tell my grandkids about someday.” Thank God I have Mike Dunleavy.

Baron is the worst starting PG in the Western Conference now and he’ll only get worse.

Every time it was up to him to be the man and take the team on his shoulders he sucked like a 2-bit whore.

I wish we had a young guy like Evans, Jennings, Lawson or Flynn right now – those guys have been in the league for less than 10 games and are already blowing Baron away.

I think Dunleavy just coached himself out of a gig tonight.

I never felt that he would get fired before because of yet another collapse down the stretch but this one feels different. This was his epitaph!

Fact is – Dunleavy has tried to make it work with 3, 4 totally different rosters and other than the Cassell led team the results have been terrible. He’s been the only constant in all these losing seasons.

Time to wipe the slate clean………….

Wow. I’m just completely speechles with the game I saw tonight. I don’t even know what to say. I really didn’t think Dunleavy could find yet another way to screw us over and lose this game, but he does it again. Up by 22 points at home, but we end up losing by 15 points? You’ve got to be kidding me. Another 4 quarter meltdown by our Mike Dunleavy-coached Clippers. I’ll be shocked if Dunleavy makes it threw this weekend as our head coach. The time is now to get this idiot out of here.

DTS needs to give the finger to all the whining fans and give Dunleavy a five year contract extension. Sterling needs to show the fans that he calls the shots and no one else. Who cares if the team loses…DTS can tolerate it. And if he can tolerate it, so can you.

  43. Fire Dunleavy Said,

Dunleavy will get fired this week and replaced by Lucas. They may keep him as GM. Donald Sterling was livid after the last game. He hates to eat money, but they’re going to have to find a way to pay off the $5M they owe Dunleavy so they don’t lose the entire season. Fans are going to start to go nuts.

Just take a deep breath. Clippers will have Gordon and Griffin in December with a new coach. May even finish the season close to .500.

If they don’t fire him, I’m canceling my season tix.
