From what I recall, Maggette insisted he gave the Clippers one last chance to offer him what GS ended up offering him. I don't remember ever reading about Maggette willing to take the mid-level exception to stay (and even if he did say it, I find it hard to believe).

We cannot judge Telfair by his height. We can say the same thing about Gordon as well. How about Iverson? Telfair is no Boykins.

This team can do fine with Telfair. His good years are yet to come. Let it happen with Clippers. If Rajon Rondo plays for Clippers, we'd say the same thing about him too.

Sessions was that better, taller version of Telfair... I'd be content with Baron as our 3rd string PG since I can't imagine anyone wanting him at that salary.

Corey offered ro re-sign that summer for MLE to keep him and Brand as Clippers and to free up cash to make an offer to Baron. We had his bird rights and he played here for nearly his entire career. But we let Corey walk instead and Brand ended up leaving for Philly. In the end we got Baron but let 2 of our best assets go out the door for basically nothing.

Getting Baron in the end was actually fortunate, we could have ended up with nothing and been in an even worse place then we are. But for a few days we could have had all 3 at pretty good rates. Then again, we wouldnt have been so bad as to get the lottery pick last year, so maybe it was a blessing in disguise.

I would really like to see this team - as is - play with a real point guard.

There was a consensus in the pre-season that the key to this season/success was the play of Baron Davis who promised us his best season ever.

Well, 15 games into the season it is clear that very little has changed. Baron is still a total liability on most nights and we are struggling first and foremost because he just can't - or won't - make it happen.

The PROBLEM is Baron - much more so than Dunleavy.

Obviously the offense is much more fluid with Telfair out there and he/it saved us tonight. If we had a better, taller version of Telfair as our starter instead of Baron at his worst we'd be stylin'.

We need to upgrade at PG. If that doesn't happen we're never gonna get to the next level. And we have the pieces to get there. Except for the right PG.

We coulda kept Corey for MLE. Dun let him walk.

We could package Baron with Camby though and get Corey and Monta, but thats adding a lot more years in contracts, decreases flexibility for next year and you could get better. And do you really want Monta runnin the Clips? Pass.

With just moving a single player, Memphis is obviously not happy with their point guard. Financially though, they dont have very many big contracts except Jaric's which they desperately want to unload. If you made an offer for Rudy Gay, Mike Conley and Marko Jaric for Baron Davis that might financially work. Or Thornton if they want a prospect to make up for Gay. Or Camby for that matter if they want to gain more cap.

But even what works financially isnt always the best deal. However, we need a dominant 3 and they need a dominant 1. In the end both teams get better people to fill the roles for which they have needs.

Ya know, just thinking aloud here
