Dare we root for the celtics tonight?
I know I will. And it hurts for me to say that because I am a die-hard Clippers fan. But I know it’s for the best for this franchise going forward. Keeping Dunleavy as our head coach is a recipe for disaster and it’s been proven during his time here. Being with the Clippers for 7 or 8 years
and having only one playoff appearance to show for it is just pathetic anyway you slice it.
What’s the source here for everyone thinking MDSr will be done after tonight?
Assuming that’s true, I obviously won’t be sad to see him go. Maybe he’s part of the curse; if not, then he’s helped exacerbate or perpetuate it. The franchise needed to distance itself from Dunleavy after Ewing happened. Instead we’ve had to suffer a few more fruitless seasons after that.
But more change still has to happen even if Mike Dunleavy gets fired. The Clippers need someone to teach their kids how to play right, god knows DeAndre needs someone like that. Maybe a new trainer? It seems like the medical staff botched the whole Griffin injury pretty badly.
what happened with Dunleavy and Daniel Ewing?
What a GREAT GAME! Now Dunleavy keeps his job, though…
Baron Davis is playing a good games. That was a good game!!!
everytime i turn to Clipper games they play horrible (last suns game they were up 18 – 10 and in the time i watched it the Suns tied it in a couple minutes)
and i never turned to it again
i am not superstitous but cmon now…..it happens everytime when i dont watch the team on TV we play good (when i change the channel)
and i dont watch this game and this happens??
anyone know what time they are re-airing it? ON FSN?
Maybe we’re all part of that infamous Clipper CURSE. Maybe…people with inborn curse are drawn towards Clippers.
What say you Clipnation?
I thought Dunleavy did a fine job tonight (with the exception of putting Steve Novak in the game for the first time 47:59 into the game). There were a couple of great set plays for Kaman out of deadball situations (4th, 4:30 I think comes to mind) and Kaman did a good job converting. A few of the things that almost cost the Clippers this game seemed to fall on the players — most notably the turnovers in the last two minutes and DeAndre’s missed FTs when the Clips were down three. Ultimately, though, we won the game on some gutsy plays (Butler, Davis) and some luck (Rondo). Best game I’ve watched all season!!!
Dunleavy didnt win this game.
Bad shooting from the Celtics won this game. They had more O boards, more steals, better passing, more shots on the basket than we did.
We should have been blown out by 20 if Boston could have converted more looks. They played better than we did, there is nothing in the box score that shows why we won except our FG%. We were just making shots and they werent. They outplayed us everywhere else.
So, Clippers also lost tons of games with bad shooting nights, right?
You can’t shoot your way out of slump if you are facing equally good defensive team.
Anyone who rooted for the Celtics tonight can eat my shorts. Baron is really playing well lately.
Yes, eat all of our shirts.
it’s only for the long term good
Eat my sneakers too.
I don’t think that I have bashed Baron so far this season. We must admit that he is playing well right now – no doubt . Kaman ( 27 & 12 ) is back to or above CK 2.0 , too bad Ej is struggling. Although not a horrible game with 15 points.
This team is bipolar. NBA TV analyst were raving over the buzzer beating shot and I have noticed that those guys generally give the Clippers more respect than other media
We shouldn’t focus on EJ’s scoring if we want to see him as a defensive force. Limiting Ray Allen to 15 pts is much better than EJ scoring 20pts. and letting
Allen score 30pts.
Was at the game tonight. The fourth quarter was electric. Reminded me of some of the playoff games in the Cassell era. However….they won in spite of Dunleavy. Only the dunce would put Bassy and Jordan back in at the end or the third and first half of the fourth after Collins and Skinner had played so well to help make it close in the second quarter. When did the Clips go on their run? When Bassy was out of the game. Sigh.
Give the devil his due. Dunleavy made some great calls down the stretch. Having DeAndre in for rebounding then immediately calling a timeout so he wouldn’t get foul intentionally by KG. Then the last misdirection play for Baron actually worked to perfection. We’ve complained in the past about muddled plays out of time outs…but this one worked, so blame Dunleavy when it fails but give him credit when it works.
DeAndre only got to play because Marcus was injured. And it was a great sub to pull him out for fear of his FT%. I think most coaches would have and should have made that call.
Problems still rife on his substitutions, Kaman with 38 minutes. Novak with 1 second of playing time. Ricky Davis with 14 seconds. Telfair, Collins and Skinner all played under 10 minutes.
Thank God DeAndre could last 30 minutes last night. After barely getting any time on the floor, he stepped up big time last night. Even more reason why he needs more solid time in the rotation instead of the 5-10 minutes he normally gets.
I dont give Dunleavy any credit. This one we can thank Paul Pierce for staying home.
Well the Celtics beat Orlando without Pierce. This was a great win because when it comes down to it, there available personnel; Rondo, Garnett, Rasheed, Ray Allen, are better than ours. One win does not make a season, but enjoy it when you get it.
I’m the last guy who will support Dunleavy blindly, but I’m willing to give him credit when credit is due. Almost every player who played contributed something in the win, and Dunleavy’s misdirection play for Baron worked. I would like to see DeAndre get more minutes as well, particularly if we treat this year as a rebuilding year. But realistically, not everything that is wrong with the Clippers is Dunleavy’s fault. And the team will not suddenly turn into winners once he leaves. Were you around during the Gene Shue years? The Clippers history is a long and depressing one. Dunleavy has done some good things for the franchise; the training center, the appeals to Sterling to open his wallet for free agents.
Some of you Dunleavy haters are getting a bit too carried away with your hatred. If the Clippers turn their season around, would you stop supporting the team because you hate Dunleavy so much? Evaluate the team for what they are, celebrate when they win, and feel free to criticize when they lose, but the manic obsession with Dunleavy isn’t healthy.
Was it a “misdirection” play or a “desperation” play? I winced until I saw it was good. They call that a “Hail Mary” in football. We can just call it what it is….a lucky shot.
I dont think it was Dunleavys brilliance that won the game last night. Sure he deserves credit for the teams defensive determination but this win was ultimately provided by extremely poor shooting on the part of the Celtics.
To start talking playoffs because of the win is just lunacy. Theres so much this team needs that isnt getting done, that was even on display last night, but somehow gets obscured because a desperation play paid off against a big team missing one of its major scorers. We were lucky DJ was able to survive 30 minutes last night when hes been in the doghouse nearly the entire season. We were lucky the Celtics couldnt hit the broadside of a barn. We were lucky OUR shots were falling as well as they were. All of that added to a win.
This win doesnt validate Dunleavys record with the franchise or change my mind about him. I gave him latitude to really put something out there at the beginning of the season and we just got more of the same excuses while seeing teams like the Kings and the Rockets coach rings around us with a roster full of bench players and rookies. Even if the team miraculously turns the season around I still wont have much faith because I dont feel that Dunleavy can make it endure. I dont think hes the type of guy that can build young talent as I see DeAndre Jordan rotting on the bench and Mardy Collins getting 20 minutes a game. I’ve got no faith in the future of this organization underneath its present management even though im terribly excited about Blake Griffins impending premiere and the trials and tribulations of Eric Gordons sophomore season.
We’ve got a great team that does have a lot of potential. We just have the wrong guy in charge and it shows, in both the wins and the losses.
Never thought Kaman would be THIS GOOD. What else can he do? How about 6 assist per game? That should be his next target?
Baron Davis was right. Sky IS the limit to this team once Blake Griffin returns. Kaman-Griffin tandem will open a whole new world for Clippers.
Dunleavy should make Thornton his next priority. Why isn’t Thornton a scoring machine for this team? He’s capable, but not with this team.
Al Thornton is really the x-factor in my opinion….
he is so good for us when he nails that mid range shot…the thing is he is a really crappy shooter and his game has changed from when he was a rookie….
i like Al in the post but anything other than that makes me cringe…..
Great game, cut out the turnovers and we could go on a win streak…
Simmons reversed cursed the Clippers. Even though Boston needed no edge, he thought making up a a rumor about Dunleavy getting fired on a loss would get the Clippers players to try less and get an easier win for Boston.
this was a trap game for Boston….letdown after beating Orlando…
This was a TEAM win, everyone stepped up and that is how you win games.DUNLEAVY WON AGAINST THE BEST DEFENSIVE TEAM IN THE NBA WITH DEFENSE ITS A MIRACLE THE CURSE IS BROKEN WE CAN BE FREE AGAIN! DANCE WITH ME MY CHILDREN DANCE! FUCK THE NOISE OUR TEAM IS LEGIT I ALMOST CRIED WHEN BARON HIT THAT SHOT. PLAYOFF RUN AFTER THIS WIN! PLAYOFFS BABY YES OH YES!
This is such a familiar scenario. As soon as the rumors about firing Dunleavy reach their height, the team goes out and upsets a good team and buys two more weeks for the Dunce. Then the team goes into a tail spin and loses twenty point leads to the likes of the Knicks and gets totally schooled by teams with good coaches like San Antonio. This is getting old!
yeeeh clips win!!
*hmp fire dunleavy
WHOOOO GO CLIPS
cough cough* fire dunleavy
more reason to dump Dunleavy…if they played like this all the time they would make the play offs…Jordan should be playing …mistakes and all…
