Baron Davis is a creature of Los Angeles, but the Clips shooting guard has an urban crush on New York City.
Whether he’s playing in Steve Nash’s annual soccer game in Central Park or dribbling his way from the Brooklyn Bridge up through Greenwich Village (and the hollowed West 4th Street courts) and into midtown Manhattan, Baron plays very well in Gotham.
Couple of observations:
- It’s been over a decade since I lived in New York, but a summer walk across the Brooklyn bridge into downtown Manhattan is atop the list of America’s best strolls.
- As Henry notes, it’s a little strange to take the train from Washington Square to the hallowed West 4th Street courts since they share a stop on the F.
- Missing: A drop-in at Schimmel’s Knishery on Houston, though I suppose that’s more on the Williamsburg Bridge-to-the-Village route.
- Architectural porn: Beaux Arts masterpiece Grand Central Station toward the end of the video. I always love seeing a game in Madison Square Garden. Know what would be cooler? Watching a game inside the atrium of Grand Central.
Here’s the reel:
