Dissecting the Side-Screen Roll Since 2006

An Update on Sofo

Posted by D.J. Foster on June 8, 2010 at 1:06 am

The lone overseas Clipper, Sofoklis Schortsanitis, (or for the sake of my spell check, Big Sofo) is currently playing in the Greek A-1 League Finals with the rest of his Olympiakos teammates. In the video below you’ll see a little bit of what Sofo can do on the court, and get a peek at a former NBA player that’s out there on the market. Hint: It’s the guy with the giant afro.

But what you’ll mostly see is a huge reason for Sofo to finally make his way overseas. Yes, the crowds in Staples aren’t nearly as supportive, but foam fingers are a lot less dangerous than what transpired in this particular game. Check out the video below:

Afro boy would be a good option if we don’t get LeBron. It’s a plus he already plays with Sofo.

Its eye opening to see the differences in behavior of fans between different cultures . If someone lit off fireworks during a game in america, shock would be the emotion portrayed on all the news outlets for days. On a side note, chris kaman saw this and is now seriously considering basketball in europe. Basketball and fireworks are major priorites in his life and olympiakos seems to offer both….win win

Sterling won’t sell. I think Simmons said he was offered around a billion before and still wouldn’t sell. And I don’t think Geffen would help to get Lebron.

The article about Geffen made me very aroused. And I’m straight. That would be the best thing ever to happen to the franchise. Geffen is convinced he can deliver LBJ. If that’s the case, who knows what he would pay for 51%. It would probably be double the value of the entire franchise right now. Sterling could be a hero, still own 49%, still sit courtside to cheer on his team, the one he built.

Geffen has ties to LBJ, and was at game 2 with Maverick Carter. Google Maverick Carter if you must.

Sofo is slow on his defensive rotation. I worry about him coming here and discovering fast food. We’ll have Stanley Roberts II. We already have Jordan who can dunk and he won’t balloon up to 400 lbs. just looking at a cheeseburger. Pass.

The Clippers don’t have many players right now. And he probably won’t be a starter.

That’s what sport should be about – real fans, real action…in the US it’s like going to Billy Elliot and all fans dress like idiots! We could learn a thing or two, cause NBA really lacks passion lately!
We should really get JC and to be honest forget about Sofo – he is so slow even Shaq will look like Tyson Gay around him!

Sofo probably doesn’t have the cardio to play more than 20 quality minutes but he definitely looks like he could do some damage in those 20 minutes. Just trying to box a guy that size out if he is even somewhat active could really wear down an opposing front line.

STOP THE SOFO INSANITY. As a longtime Clipper fan, I’m not sure what has been worse, the unrealistic dreaming among Clipper Nation that a big-time free agent will ever come here or this insane believe Sofo can be any sort of impact player in the league. Did you watch this video? He’s nowhere on the court after the first half and not in the game during crunch time. And anyone recognize that physique? Shoot, Stanley Roberts was in better shape than this guy.

As for Geffen, nothing would make me happier to see anyone take over the Clippers (besides Al Davis), but Sterling has no sense of how hated he is. Until the fans turn on him in the games, in the arena, he ain’t going anywhere. Plus, who wouldn’t love to be a fly on the wall in an owner’s meeting after a few year when Geffen screams at Mark Cuban for being a whiny idiot.

    Geffen+LeBron=TOTAL SUCCESS.

Sterling can make more money with 49% of stake by teaming up with those two remarkable
men. It’s time Sterling did something good for the city, fans and himself.

If STERLING doesn’t make this deal with GEFFEN he’s pissing on ClipperNation. This is his last best chance to be seen as a good guy and he’ll still make money…MORE money.

Forget about Sofo … Clipperblog should be digging into the story that David Geffen is interested in buying a majority share of the Clippers to bring Lebron in. That’s a story.

Also Clippers should not lose focus on draft picks. They should carefully monitor players who do workouts for Lakers, Spurs and Celtics. Several talented players try to remain under the radar to be picked late by those 3 teams.
