Player Preview: DeAndre Jordan

Posted by D.J. Foster On September - 16 - 2010

Now that all the offseason hullabaloo is finally done and dealt with, let’s get back to our player preview series. This piece on DeAndre Jordan was penned by Charlie Widdoes:

Eric Gordon may have commanded the majority of the offseason buzz with his performance for Team USA, but he is not the only 2008 draftee Clippers fans should be thinking about heading into this season.  When the team drafted DeAndre Jordan in the 2nd round (35th overall), many familiar with his pedigree saw it as a move with little risk attached that could potentially pay huge benefits down the road.

Young and Running

Transition is the buzzword floating around this summer, and for good reason. There’s a new head coach in town after Mike Dunleavy held the post for seven years, which is an eternity in this landscape. There are eight new players on the roster, five of them rookies. There’s a new general manager calling the shots upstairs.

But as everything seems to be changing, some things have stayed exactly the same. A quick glance at the roster can make you come back to a very familiar question: Why don’t the Clippers get out and run more?

Monday Mailbag

Before we begin, I’d just like to thank you all for sending in great questions. We got a ton of submissions, so if I missed your question don’t fret — there’s a good chance we’ll run it next week. Let’s get to it!

Q: What are the implications of Eric Gordon’s strong performance this summer?  I’m afraid to get my hopes up, because he hasn’t really shown anything new — he’s hitting threes with remarkable accuracy, but not displaying improved ballhandling, rebounding, or passing.  - Sam K.

Introducing the Clipperblog Mailbag

Posted by D.J. Foster On September - 9 - 2010

We are trying something a little bit new here at Clipperblog in the offseason, and we need your help. More specifically, we need your questions.

Want to know what we think about a trade for Carmelo, or if a trade you’ve constructed makes sense? Or specifics about the Clippers draft picks and salary cap situation? How about our feelings on Baron going into the season, or some good old fashioned X’s and O’s talk?  Send any question you have for us my way and we’ll tackle them in a mailbag post.

Eric Gordon Team USA Highlights

Posted by D.J. Foster On September - 9 - 2010

There are some things you can watch over and over again and never get sick of. Eric Gordon’s jumper is one of  those things. It’s absolutely picture perfect. Look at his feet squared up, his balanced base. Check out how his shoulders are always perfectly aligned with the rim. Watch the elbow line up perfectly, his fingers spread across the ball, with the perfect jump forward, wrist snap, and follow thru. It’s a coach’s dream from start to finish. I could shag down rebounds for Eric Gordon all day long and never be happier.
