News from the Clippers:
The Los Angeles Clippers today waived Stephen Dennis, Jon Scheyer and Jake Voskuhl. The Clippers training camp roster now stands at 15.
This shouldn’t come as a giant surprise. The Clippers were only going to take one center between Jake Voskuhl and Jarron Collins. Jon Scheyer, as good as a player as he was in college, didn’t look like he had anywhere near the lateral quickness to be able to guard anyone in the NBA. Stephen Dennis was going to get bumped unless he played out-of-his-mind well because the Clippers have a glut of guards and he did not do that.
Hopefully, this will lead to more consistency from the team. The first three games of the pre-season have been decided by 29 (loss), 32 (win) and 40 (loss) points and I’d be surprised if VDN tolerates that much longer. Maybe that was the inspiration for the cuts now, three at once and more than two weeks from the start of season, he may want to establish a rhythm in his rotation more similar to that of a regular NBA season.
We wish Jake, Stephen and Jon the best of luck out there, it’s a mental grind to turn dreams into reality and without the multitude of players who dare to chase those dreams, the NBA would be no where near as competitive and enthralling. So thanks.
