Sacramento Kings V. Los Angeles Clippers Game Thread

Tonight is the Clippers last pre-season game and they’ll play the Sacramento Kings at home before taking eight days off for the season opener. In the last pre-season game, the Clippers cleaned the Kings clocks, beating them by 42 in their lone win of the pre-season.

Kaman, Blake and Al-Farouq scored 20, 18 and 17 respectively to lead the Clippers in scoring in the rout. However, what was more impressive, at least for this preseason, was that the Clippers held the Kings under 100 points in the first go-around. Hopefully, they can replicate that tonight. Game starts at 7:30 PM PT.

Our second team is Hoooooorrrible!! i can see them loose 18pt leads! oh wait .. they already have! . I can’t figure out who’s worse Cook or Butler. oh yes i can.. cook by far! eventhough butler can’t score if his life depended on.. he’s doing good on rebounds at least. on cook… he’s tried the 3 to layups and nothing! .

  I hate Cook! not only is he a ex Faker, he’s old and he sucks! his three point shot looks like a Shaq free throw! I hope we drop him.

the refs are out of their gord, drunk with their newly acquired power. Aminu looks like he is coming along decently and should start over Gomes.

  AMINU is a surprise gift to Clippers. He’s the ONE who can make this team look formidable. Our starting line-up now looks good.

    His athleticism, defense, and ability to finish makes him a better fit for the starters. Running out after a steal today you could see how much ground he covers and will almost always give us a dunk off the steal. Gomes is better off the bench and hopefully then we will see less of cook. I like the addition of Collins, seems to be a heady guy that can rebound and hold his own in the post.

I know it was a bank, but that game-tying three should buy Farouq some time before people start calling him a bust. Besides, other than a few rookie turnovers, he’s looked good tonight.

  Why are people calling Aminu a bust anyway? He just needs to iron a few kinks in his game and he’ll be fine. Some people have posted that we should have picked Hayward.. and that would have been a good choice. But I think Hayward has already reached his ceiling. Good shooter with high bbiq, but lacking athleticism. I’m hopeful that Aminu can be a good shooter, solid rebounder and an all-around athletic SF. I predict Aminu to be a Gerald Wallace type of a player… I just hope he won’t take as long to develop as Wallace.

    I think that people were calling him a bust because in the few games that were televised, he played sparingly and not well. The only thing that I thought was a surprise tonight was how well he shot the 3. He rebounds well, makes good individual defensive plays but still needs work on the team stuff, runs the floor great, great finisher, turns the ball over some but that’ll improve with time in the league.
    
    I agree with your comparison to Wallace as well (I even mentioned that as a comparison in a mail bag a few weeks ago). I wouldn’t, however, expect him to reach that potential quickly though. He’s going to take his lumps getting there.

        Absolutely (I’m writing an article for JoeLouis right now, so I’m checking back and forth with the thread). The way Baron is playing right now is what I hoped he would play like. The man can pass and he goes strong to go to the rack. As DumpDavis will remind you though, he’s a terrible 3-point shooter. But he hasn’t resorted to those ugly, stop and pop threes that drive everyone crazy. Yet. He is a charismatic, emotional player, so when things are good, he shows up. Like in Golden State when that whole fan base got behind him. With a flexible motivator for a coach (VDN) and the good juju of the squad, I don’t see why he can’t keep this up. I’m starting to think that Olshey hired VDN for Baron as much as he did for the youngsters.   The only person who should shoot a 3 that isn’t wide open is gordon. Everyone else needs to realize that bad 3s lead to the other team scoring in transition most times.

I liked the way aminu played at the end of 4th quaters this is the second time he made a clutch three pointer to put clippers back in it. He seems to be reliable for a clutch three when we need it. Could he have that same clutch shot that robert horry has hmmm maybe not but hey it could show some promise that he might not be a total bust

The good -
1. Kaman was solid ( he reminds me of a younger Duncan at times). The clips were lost in the 4th and when he came in, he wanted the ball and was asking the team to pick it up. .. Then he got ejected. pow!

2. Amuni – His best game so far. (that i’ve seen) There’s def. some potential on amuni. Besides the 3′s , I think Baron made him look good by giving him easy baskets, but the fact that he ran all the time was impresive. He still needs more minutes.

3. Baron – Aside his usual bad 3′s. He was on the dot passing the ball and being one step quicker than anyone guarding him. He’s in NBA shape, all we need is to keep him motivated.

4. Blake – Good to see him resting.

First half was insane for clips!. they were everywhere w. high percentage shooting. The bench is killing us!. they look lost and nobody wants the ball on offense. Its going to get better once we’re past our first 15games. gordon/giffin/baron/kaman must stay away from long injuries for this team to make it to playoffs. (cross my fingers)

  Lol, Vinny almost lost it when Bledsoe fouled unnecessarily towards the end of the game. Poor Bled… you can tell he felt terrible after that foul…

    I like Bledsoe, but he takes everything to heart. That’s good because hes conscientious, but its bad because he lets it linger throughout the rest of the game. I like it that hes introspective though and recognizes what he needs to improve.

Was at the game last night and Baron did look very good. If he stays like that we will be ok. But the main concern is the bench and really with the back up big guys!! We have nobody!! I mean does Jordan or cook even make the team anywhere else? Jordan looked as if he made no progress at all this off season and just pouted out there like a little kid. What if CK or BG go down during the year say for 2 – 3 weeks we will be just killed. Need to bring in someone somehow fast!! I think skinner was better than cook. I thought Foye looked better last night but I would have really expected more from bledsoe than we have gotten project or not he is the 12th pick in the draft and is not 7’1″ so he cant be that much of a project.
