How Many Games Will the Clippers Win?

Posted by Kevin Arnovitz On October - 27 - 2010

Brian Chan is a Southern California transplant and life-long Clippers fan living in the Bay Area.  The things keeping him content are his camera, the game of basketball and the beauty of Chris Kaman. Today, he digs inside the data for ClipperBlog to establish a benchmark for the 2010-11 season. It’s a tall task because the Clippers have overhauled their roster from a season ago. With all those moving parts to account for, here are Chan’s conclusions:

Western Conference Preview 2010-2011

For most of us in Southern California, the changing of seasons is a subtle event. We lack the autumn splendor of trees shedding their foliage or the crisp smell of burning leaves which herald the end of October and the onset of winter. One of the things I usually do around this time of year, which I’ve always associated with Fall, is to call my old college roommate to discuss the coming NBA season and the Clippers’ chances of making the playoffs. Despite the fact that we’re irredeemable Clippers fans, we like to believe that we can judicially gauge the Western Conference competition and the Clippers’ place in its hierarchy without much prejudice. It is also a chance for us to put aside the worries of adulthood for a moment, and to become boys again—if only for a few minutes—as we eagerly look forward to the upcoming season’s storylines.

2010-2011 Clippers Season Preview

After what seems like the longest basketball offseason in history, the NBA starts its regular season on Tuesday. It’s about time. On Wednesday, the Clips open up against Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge and Greg Oden’s surgically repaired knees and I can’t wait to see how this whole basketball season unfolds.

Clipper cut Marqus Blakely

It shouldn’t be a surprise that the Clippers and Marqus Blakely are parting ways. He played only two preseason games and ran for 18 minutes of them. Sure, he’d be worthwhile to keep around if only because of his impressive Summer League performance, but the Clippers had 15 men on their roster and it’s rare for a team to head into the season with the maximum amount of players allowed.

Rumination on past trade rumor

Posted by Breene Murphy On October - 24 - 2010

Buried in Mark Heisler’s opinion piece on LeBron James is a trade nugget that I can’t help but mull over:

An NBA source says the Cavaliers then offered Mo Williams and Jamario Moon for the Clippers’ Baron Davis, desperate to please James, who likes Baron and was down on Mo … even with newly hired Coach Byron Scott having clashed with Davis in New Orleans.
