If you want to talk about the underrated dunks of Blake this season, the Pistons game a month ago provided a lot of them.
Blake even made a dunk attempt spectacular.
One of the reasons that Blake was able to get to the rim against the Pistons is because of their weakness: big men. They have two decent to good players that aren’t in their primes, Ben Wallace is way past it and Greg Monroe is still developing. Outside of those two, their bigs aren’t especially imposing. Chris Wilcox is on the team (all Clippers fans: “Ahhh, so that’s where he is now. I hadn’t thought about him in a while.”) but he’s still a below average back-up forward. Jonas Jerebko plays forward but spends more time on the perimeter than he does in the paint due to his somewhat slight size (6’10” 231 lbs.), Charlie Villanueva measures similarly and likes to chuck threes and Austin Daye is even skinnier than both of those guys (6’11” 200).
Basically, Blake should feast on this team. Here’s hoping that Charlie Villanueva doesn’t go for 30 points like he did a month ago.
