The Clippers have announced that they waived second-year guard Willie Warren and training camp invitees Blake Ahearn, Adam Koch and Renaldo Major.
Warren’s release comes as somewhat of a surprise considering his pedigree (he was considered a first-round talent before a disappointing sophomore season at Oklahoma) and his strong performance for the club’s D-League affiliate last season.
In 15 games for the Bakersfield Jam, Warren averaged 19.2 points per game on 40% shooting from three. With his release, you could be looking at Travis Leslie, a second-rounder from this past draft, and undrafted Courtney Fortson battle it out for the fifth guard spot on the roster until Eric Bledsoe returns.
