In case you missed it, D.J. Foster, Jovan Buha and Mark Shore discuss the final Clippers-Lakers preseason game on ClipperBlog Live.

Griffin just never stop to amuse me.

- He got the so much talked about mid range game, in the first game the made some attempts but didn’t go well, but this time he nailed it. At least 2 shot over Gasol’s length and some more over McBob and Murphy. In one of the HL, he dribbled like a PG in front of Murphy and did a step back fade away. In the first game he tried a turn around shot so I think he should be able to do it as well.

- I think he shot 8/10 from FT
- He led a couple of fast break, including one coast to coast
- He did some nice assists and some of them very PG like, in one of them he drove to the basket and made a pass behind the post defender
- He got more versatile in the paint! There are at least two HL, when he play Murphy and one that he got a pass from CP3, fake Bynum and make a Slam Dunk.
- He played better D, even against Gasol, there were times when the Clippers were really good at D, they just need to do it consistently

I know it was just one game and he may not stay consistent at all of that – which I doubt given his work ethic, I don’t think it was just a day -, but how many new dimensions did he improve in just one off-season? It took at least 5 or 6 years to LBJ and D12 add post moves to their game. I bet he will add a 3pt next off season.

DJ did again what he needs to do. Rebounds, block shots and dunks! Bynum got the best of him, but DJ got better at D than last season. Last season, big buys like Bynum were able to make him back up step by step, this time he defended his position quite better.

Seriously, Griffin and DJ are the most agile front court out there. No Center move like DJ and I think that no PF can run a fast break like Griffin.

I like Thompkins! He is really good at positioning himself or just very luck guy… hehe…

Clippers got better at D overall they are not consistent yet, but I think that guys like CP3 will demand it.

I think Clippers need a 7-footer or two, just in case.

  oh, there is one think Griffin needs to work on, to block shots. but there is also one other thing he got better at, footwork around the basket.

  I think Clippers need to combine fast pace and slow pace according to the game and opponent. At some point they were struggling against the Lakers and Bynum was dominating, then they go into a faster pace game and Bynum wasn’t able to keep up and his efficiency got lower.
  
  But it’s funny to see how some guys can be good when they get touches of the ball – I’m talking about the Lakers without Kobe.

I think that Barkley could handle like that, actually I think Barkley was better than Griffin is now, but just for now.

  Very true. Odom as well. I just always have Anthony Randolph on the brain.

    Odom is a good handler, but he doesn’t have the explosiveness Griffin and Barkley do.

Just got my CLIP tix for 3 games. Still worried that lack of size will kill us in the end. DJ staying out of foul trouble is huge. Go get Shaq to play 10 minutes. Really stick it to Kobe.

  Well, we got Reggie Evans to handle the foul department. As long as DJ can stay out of foul trouble until the second half he should be ok. I’m worried about the lack of size as well, but it seems like the Clippers handled the Lakers–notably one of the biggest teams sizewise–fairly ok. The team has a good balance between quickness and size that should work all around, but a backup big man would be nice.

we are a back up big away from dominating teams with a good front court. We proably have the best back court in the league and the most atheletic front court. Butler was better then Monday night hitting those corner threes like bread and butter. It was amazing watching griffin demand so much attention inside that they forget about jordan and he got 14 pts in the process. Also they were leaving guys like butler wide open for threes. Dj was he good or what in critcal defense. Bynum was torching him all nite. But when it matter most dj blocked bynum and kept the ball in play and one the game for us with that key block. Dj may never be mutombo but he is improving his shot blocking. He just got to make sure he doesn’t bite on fakes and he is all good. Trey thompkins. This kid should have been a first round pick. Its good he fell back in the draft for us. Once again olshey finds a draft pick gem in a weak draft. This kid definitely has potential and he can definitely be a force behind griffin. He is averaging 7 pts off the bench. If he can somehow get 12 or 14 pts off the bench he might be in the roy talks. Thompkins was demanding more mins the way he was playing last night becuz he was doing very well in such a shorten season. Good job thompkins.

  I’m going with “or what.” Jordon’s defense was horrible. He got absolutely schooled by Bynum and probably doesn’t even realize it. Blocks are like steals; people who don’t understand the game assume it’s a good measure of defense. Some guys DJ will be able to sag off of. When your man gets more layups because you left him to attempt a block than actual blocks, it might be time to stay at home. He didn’t even make him work to get his points.

Trey Thomkins can clearly play but he was absolutely lost on defense. Several times he swithced onto the guy with the ball and then ran away to go find someone else to guard and the guy with the ball got a wide open jumper. That is easy to learn though.

  I think he is nervous when it comes to defense and doesn’t want to screw up. It seems that he isn’t confident enough in his own ablities yet. That’s why I think he is hesitant when he has a good look at a shot

What i really like about this team is
-the ability to create high percentage shots.
-The way they can take over a close game by creating chaos! and turnovers.
(it happened in 3rd quarter on first and also on second preseason game)
-at any given night, any of our stars can take over the game and can shoot the lights out! (first game was billups and cp3. and last night was Blake with 30pts.)
-I believe that VDN and his motivational speaking skills is part of this chemistry amongst all players. Mo should’ve been furious by now but instead he decided to take the 6th man position.

Fyi Bynum and co. played really good last night steve B. was shooting great and bynum was an extra step ahead on DJ throughout most of the night. This was not preseason atmosphere! both teams wanted the ‘W’.
FYi – out other team the hornets also won! Go Clips!

  I think your right on about vinny being able to sell mo on the sixth man. Vinny comes off to me as a salesman type, a talker, a little like vince vaughn in swingers. Coaching isn’t all about x’s and o’s…its about managing differentt personalities…and I think that is vinnies strength

2 things to work on:

1) Half Court Offense

2) Better Defensive rotation–Lakers’ rookies had WAYYY too many open J’s.

All in all, another clipper victory…Let’s start the season off undefeated with a W over a wounded GSW (ellis’ got legal problems and curry is INJ)!!! GO CLIPPERS and go LOB CITY!!! Get your shirts peoples…let’s rock the LOB CITY!!!
