Typically I’m very curmudgeonly with my postgame grades, but after witnessing one of the best first quarters the Clippers have ever played (settle down, Mike Smith), I was tossing around A’s like nobody’s business in the Lob City Ledger over at ESPNLA.com.

The rest of the ClipperBlog crew was pretty bullish on the Clippers’ performance as well. Kevin Arnovitz, Breene Murphy and Mark Shore broke down the beatdown, talked about the future a bit, and discussed the sillyness of Chandler Parsons barking at Blake in our usual postgame edition of ClipperBlogLive. Chris Paul with the left hand dribbling in the lane, is like Gretzky behind the net in his office. Paul in the lane, the game slows down. He doesn’t get caught in the air. He doesn’t give up his dribbles. Stingy with the possession, no careless turnovers, and the good look, the 6 ft jumper, the high percentage shot. He shoots, he scores!!!

I’m calling it out now: De Andre Jordan, The NBA Most Improved Player! CP3 will finish top 3 in the MVP votes. Tough to beat out LeBron or Wade if the Heat never lose however. Any thoughts ?

  Just like last year, the Heat are going down in the Clip-joint! DeAndre most improved? Thats a great call, I think you’re right on that one. Mo-Will for NBA’s 6th man award. CP3 rhymes with MVP, and I agree. Chauncey and B-Griffin are way too classy to worry about individual awards, (CP3 is too classy to, but deserving) like the late Al Davis, just win baby!

What i loved is that blake was finally getting the ball at the top of the box instead of all the way out by the three! What are teams going to do when he gets the ball there? Collapse on him? play one on one? its pick your poison. Blake can take you off the dribble or he can pass when they collapse! thats where he needs to get the ball more often! Take note of that during film study vinny!

this what the clippers should definitely be thinking of! These are the type of things you think of when your trying to change the culture of a team!

Eric Gordon out 2 to 3 weeks, sound familiar? Its unfortunate, but we counted on that guy last year. We needed him out there. Didn’t he have the same injury last year that Kobe has now? Yeah its painful, but Kobe came through the other night with 37pts. E-Gor is a nice player at 100%, but has a low threshold for pain, didn’t seem to get along with Baron, was too turnover prone, and stayed hurt way too much. Olshey made the right move. We need guys on the court and out of the training room.

Did anyone see Chris Paul on Jimmy Kimmel Live?

Kimmel’s a jealous idiot. He absolutely ripped on the Clippers for the entirety of the interview and kept harping on the fact that CP3 didn’t join the Lakers.

You could tell Chris was getting aggravated…The best part was when CP3 asked Kimmel if he was coming to the Lakers/Clippers game next week. Kimmel said he was and CP3 said he’d waste a turnover pummeling him with the ball in the stands.

I can’t stand Lakers fans sense of entitlement. Deal with it, we got him and you didn’t.

I’ll be there at the Clippers/Lakers game next weekend. It’s going to be WAR gentlemen!

  yea I saw that interview It was funny at first but he kept going on and on and it was so annoying and The Clippers swept the Lakers in the preseason games so its like wtf AND hes not even funny so thats his way of getting laughs I guess but it was totally awkward Chris should go on Conan instead he would never make his guests feel uncomfortable.

I feel sorry for gordon. He has the potential to be the best sg in the league in a few years but as he gets older he gets more injury prone. Last season he missed more games then the season before and now he missed four games and when he cameback he goes out for 2 to 3 more weeks. Sound like when he hurt his wrist when he finally cameback off that injury he got reinjured. Gordon can have an amazing career if he stays healthy. Hope you stay healthy after this ej

Jeff Green is an UFA. Let’s sign him to be either the backup 2/3 or the starting 2 and move Chauncey to the bench.

  Jeff Green is NOT a UFA. He signed a deal with Boston and is out for the season to rest his heart.
  
  Wilson Chandler however, IS a free agent who will be available in March after the Chinese Basketball Association season ends. He can play the wing and the off guard spot. He has tons of potential left to tap as well. Id try to get him later in the season because while I love Caron and what hes done for us, he wont be able to do it into Blake’s prime years. We need a guy who will be around then.

    I actually thought the same thing, Bong, but it seems Tim is right; Jeff Green is an UFA. BOS retracted their qualifying offer per ESPN. No reason given so Green can sign with any team, although BOS does still have his Bird Rights so they can offer more money.
    
    Wilson Chandler, I believe, is a RFA (He has to be if he was a 1st rounder. Otherwise that would mean DEN didn’t make a QO to him). His situation is akin to Josh Childress’ back when Childress left ATL to play in Greece. Childress played overseas but ATL held his RFA rights whenever he came back to the NBA.

    I posted this after I found out Boston rescinded their qualifying offer to Green to make him an UFA. That’s why I said sign him. We don’t need Wilson Chandler because Chandler has a scoring mentality. On a team loaded offensively, we need a solid wing defender who can score a little bit with the second unit and that’s who Green is. I don’t mind him being the starter and move Chauncey to the bench. Having Chuancey and Green will cause matchup nightmares to opposing teams.

      That is if Chauncey is retained assuming signing Green happens next year when he’s fully recovered from his heart surgery.

Ok, Eric Gordon made some nice contributions, but if I had a dollar for every former Clipper that had injury problems, I’d be doing alright, even in this economy. Lets hope he does well, you never like to see a player hurt, but while we’re at it, lets wish Al Thornton well, and send a shout out to Darius Miles, lets hope he’s ok too. Basketball is a business. Kenny Smith said it best, that players have used the Clips as a stop over. Its hard to feel too bad when they go elsewhere, no matter what happens to them. Just my opinion. Sorry everyone, I’ve been a bitter Clipper fan since the beginning, defending the draft of Michael Olowankandi, explaining why Ely and Wilcox were solid picks, hoping Tracy Rodgers would take us somewhere. I got excited about Bo Kimble, Terry Dehere, and La Ron Ellis. I honestly thought Marko Jaric and Baby Shaq would fix things around here. It’s hard to look at Eric Gordon right now and feel bad for the guy. I want a Pacific Division Banner for starters! Somebody, get me 50 wins! Right now, I’ll settle for a blow out over the Rockets, and follow that up with a win over the hapless Bucks! We’re in 1st place!!! Thats what I’m talking about!

  Ralph lawler is good enough to be both commentators. Its funny how ralph corrects mike smith or makes him look like a dumbass. I also like how lawler makes fun of bad shooters like shawn marion and noah. I hope lawler is with us for 20 more years. I also love brain semens commentary.

I say sign Jeff Green because he’s young and he has length and size and can defend opposing 2′s. Chauncey can guard some of the slower 2′s but in terms of lateral quickness, can’t keep up with the likes of Wade, Ginobili, and Monta Ellis. On a Clippers team loaded with offensive options, Green would not need to do anything but play solid defense and score when plays aren’t run for him. He would serve the same role he did in OKC.

  Also, just because Caron and Green are 3′s doesn’t mean they can’t play the 2. the 2 and 3 positions are both wing positions.

    Caron can guard the 2, but probably not better than Chauncey. And Green? This guy is 6’9, 235, a power forward (235lb) trapped in a small forwards (6’9) frame. Not quick enough to guard the 3 because of the bulk and weight, and not big enough to handle the power forwards of the league (classic tweener), which is why he’ll soon earn the 2 worded title prior to his name. Instead of Jeff Green, he’ll soon be fondly referred to as Journey men Jeff Green, or Well-traveled Jeff Green. If Green can’t guard 3′s, and he can’t, there’s no way he could guard the 2′s of the league. I’d rather have Gomes backing up Caron than Green. Another thing. Caron is here on a 3-year contract. The 1st real free agent the Clippers have ever landed, key word real, he wanted to come here. Well? He and Randy Foye. My point being, lets allow this team to get some chemistry before we start bringing in everyone else’s cast-offs. Lets keep our guys. Caron? He’s ours, Green, couldn’t cut it in Boston or OKC, we don’t need him here, there’s no room for him here. This team right now, is ready to go to war. After this season, we can take a look around and see whats out there, but right now, I like this team as is. Chemistry wins championships. No more tinkering with the roster please. Trust Olshey, he knows eventually he’ll need to upgrade at the 2 and 3 position, but you have to bring in the right guys. Right now? Caron and Chauncey are the right guys for the job.
