Chauncey for all intents and purposes is lost for the season. Time to pick up and move on. Some on here have suggested JR. Smith or Fernandez, or a trade for Ebanks. I say, there is nothing wrong with a 3 guard rotation of CP3 and Foye as the starters, and Mo Will coming in off the bench, while keeping one of the starters on the court. Rotate one in, and one out, until Bledsoe gets back, to give some more relief. If we do nothing as for as trades or acquisitions, we still have enough in the backcourt in my opinion to get the job done. In order for Foye to be productive, he needs bigger minutes anyway, and now the opportunity is here for him. The Clippers are fine, stay the course!

  It’s not about the guard play, we need size in the front court that can defend in a 2/3. I like our guards, but ultimately a trade that will help make the team better will work. We need someone to slow the likes of Kobe, Ginobili, Wade, Lebron – a Shane Battier type player. If the Clips had that, instead of talking about our ceiling in the playoffs, we can talk about possibly winning a championship. With all of the guards, Bledsoe can’t even crack the rotation.

    The Dallas Mavericks did not have a guy to slow the likes of Kobe, or D-Wade, Ginobili, but still walked away with a championship last year. I am not looking to top out in the playoffs. This team can win it all this year, without the lockdown wing player you keep harping on. The Mavs won with pressure offense in the clutch, having guards on the floor who could create there own shots, and knock them down, ala Jerry Terry, JJ Barea, and even Jason Kidd, and then when that wasn’t working, they could get the ball to Dirk for a high percentage shot. We have Chris Paul, Mo Williams, and Caron, who are similar to the 3 Mavs I mentioned. Paul is a better closer than Terry. Mo can find shots a litter easily to come by than Barea, and Caron is more reliable from beyond the arc than Kidd these days. And when thats not working, we can always throw the ball down into the post so Blake can get us a high percentage shot. The Clippers contend for a championship now, without all these trades for so and so. We don’t need size in the front court, we need to not get blown out, and we have the guards to close games. Thats how to win a title these days. Pressure offense in the clutch, not a lockdown defender, that Kobe and D-wade shred for 40 every night anyway, regardless. There’s nothing wrong with the 3 guard rotation. Foye needs big minutes to duplicate Chaunceys output, I think he can do it, and provide a little more defense. The Clippers are fine, stay the course.

        Kobe averaged 35.8 minutes per game, Stevenson, 15.8, so when did Stevenson defend Kobe, and how much value did Dallas reap from having a lockdown defender on Kobe? If Stevenson, and players like him are so good at slowing down Kobe, why didn’t Dallas use Stevenson more? The reason is, they found a model that was more effective, which was to force Kobe to play isolation defense vs a smaller quicker guard. Thats the model that worked, and we have the personel, no need for a lockdown defender.

definitely going to miss chaunceys leadership and all the intangibles he brings during the game but he will still be there helping the team…. that being said i dont know if you guys remember but foye was playing lights out when he was starting last year! I think he will do better as a starter cause i dont think he has the mindset like Mo does coming off the bench but I think we will do fan… sad about chauncey getting hurt that way but we’ll be fine these are the type of things i think team can rally around.

Almost forgot about Bledsoe.

The value to the Clippers of Mo, Foye and Bledsoe just took a big jump. We truely NEED all three of these guys now.

The way Mo is playing, it would be wise to lock him up for a few more seasons. I don’t know if that is possible at this time but I wouldn’t mind seeing it.

  Is it an achilles tear? If Chauncey tore his achilles, he’s done for the year. If it isn’t torn, just strained, he’ll be out for a month so it should be ok.
The McLocker Room

Achilles tendon injuries typically sideline NBA players for at least a year. Elton Brand had this same exact injury in 2007, and he was out for 12 months. Chauncey Billups’ career could very well be over.

Considering the fact that he becomes an UFA after this season, I don’t see how any team (including the Clippers) will be willing to offer him a contract. Because he will miss the first 1/3 of next season as well. And that’s the best case scenario…

On the bright side (if there is one), this could be a blessing in disguise. We will undoubtedly miss Chauncey’s toughness and veteran leadership. No one can replace the intangibles he brought to this team. But it’s not like we traded the guy and he’s nowhere to be seen. He will still be on the sidelines, and his presence will still be felt in the locker room. Adversity will bring this team closer together.

As far as JR Smith goes, it looks like we could really use him now. In my opinion, Chauncey’s injury significantly raises our chances of adding JR Smith to this roster. The only advantage the Knicks have over the Clippers is to be able to offer more money. But the Clippers can offer him a starting position on a winning team and the chance to play alongside one of the greatest PG’s to ever play this game.

Also, in response to a previous blog thread, JR Smith and Chris Paul have never played together in the same backcourt. Chris Paul was drafted the year after JR Smith had already been dealt away from the Hornets.

Baron Davis and JR Smith played together for half a season before B Diddy was traded to the Warriors. JR Smith was traded later on during that same season due to a rocky relationship with Byron Scott. Chris Paul was drafted the next season.

A starting backcourt of Chris Paul + JR Smith would be quite nice.

As I write all of this, I am praying that Chauney’s injury is not season-ending…

I am hoping the Best for Billups.

Currently, I prefer to move Foye to the starting lineup. I think Mo’ is important in a 2nd unit that cannot score. Hopefully, Ebled can help out controlling the flow of the game when the starters are out.

Lastly, I’m not sold on JR Smith. I never like his wild tendencies when he was in the nuggets. BUT if he can play within the system and shoot only the open shots, i’m open to the idea.

Having JR Smith’s crazy sisters at the game and physically attack Laker fans is an added bonus

  JR and chris are supposed to be close friends. Maybe they’ll have an stabilizing effect on him if he signed. Though maybe not.

J.R. and his entourage? Is that what we really need?

Well, supposedly we are tunnel vision on the San Antonio mold of character. If San Antonio is starting Manu or Kahwi Leonard and we are starting J.R. we can put that talk to rest and start for more of a “bad boys”/”jailblazers” type comparisson.

Love Reg, but isn’t he notorious for grabbing dongs? And Kenyon has always been a cheap charlie bully with butt ugly tatoos.

….. Might be worth the experiment on the cheap. The kid has talent. ……I’m just sayin’.
