We’ll have more from the Clippers win over the Timberwolves tonight, but for now, here’s the Lob City Ledger from ESPNLA.com by myself, Jovan Buha:
The final score was indicative of how close the game was, because the game is 4 quarters.. You can’t expect a team to just lie down from the start at home.. When the 4th quarter rolled around the Clippers pounced and the Wolves got overpowered.. Just because you weren’t leading by 20 the whole game doesn’t mean the Clippers didn’t deserve to win by that much.
So this grading system is just not working.
The team that wins by 13..C-. The team that loses by 13..B-.
The losing team is worse with a depleted roster.
A bit harsh on that C- don’t you think?
What’s with the grading. If your gonna put the ledger on here then don’t give us this wack ass grading system. Cuz it sucks big time. Didn’t breene used to do the ledger. Let him do it again. Or foster cuz this sucks jovan. Real bad. It over shadows nick fylnts pessimistic views. That’s how bad it is
Dunleavy didn’t get the Hornets. That’s too bad, it would have been fun.
Horrible Jovan! Just horrible!
DJ and Breene are the best!
The grading is awful. Simply because their stars did not play thos game, yet they only los by only 13 or so doesnt mean anything.
I’m sure thats how you reasoned when grading these teams – based on expectations. You were expecting clippers to come there and settle the game in the 1st quarter. A 50 point lead by the end of the first half?
Well, thats not how it works. It was the second game of a b2b night, after a tiring game in okc, with VDN experimenting more on rotations. Yet clippers won by 17 or so ( excluding garbage time) turned the ball over only 11 times, and seemed in control of the game for 3/4 quarters.
Most important a win is a win, thats the bottom line. Whether its by 1 or 30 points. Grading a teams performance on your expectations alone is immature and very unprofessional, and still, even so, how did clippers play a C-????
We had nice shots, dunks, steals, and were in full control of this game after a slow start. We didnt even need cp3 heroics in the last quarter! How about these expectations when grading the team?
Seriously, im done with this blog
Magic number is 2, we should clinch a playoff spot on Monday vs the Thunder, barring any help, or we’ll clinch sooner. On Thursday, vs the Suns we should clinch a better than .500 road record for the season for the 1st time in franchise history. Between you and me, by virtue of our win in Oklahoma City, we really have no business losing any more games during the regular season. Our record should end up being 43-23. Wow, potentiallly 20 games above .500. If so, Vinny will finish this season with a coaching career record 2 games above .500. That’s quite an accomplishment. Go Clippers!
The team might slack off and loose one or two games of the remaining season at most! Its a tight race outhere and lots of teams in our schedule are hungry! The West is Fun! Memphis or Dallas on the first round of playoffs! Bring it on!! Go Clips!
Lawler correctly commented that at this point in the season you can’t worry about who you’re going to play in the playoffs. You just have to take care of your own business and try to win every game. When you get in the playoffs, it doesn’t matter who you play. To win it all, you eventually have to beat some pretty good teams. And, I’m happy to say that we have a chance to do just that. We have Chris Paul who can control games. If we play defense for 4 quarters and rebound, our dreams can materialize. Btw, Bledsoe and kmart are playing not good but great defense. Plus, they’re becoming factors offensively. I hope Ginny plans on using Bledsoe, turnovers and all, in the playoffs. The kid changes the entire flow of almost every game he plays. While I’d love to see the turnovers go down, we should live with them in order to get what he gives. The grading system is stupid. It’s a team game. Grade the team as a whole. Talk about team defense, team shooting, team rebounding, team ball movement, player movement, screen setting, boxing out, help defense, etc. if you’re going to grade.
Totally agree MV22. There’s a reason we are 13 games above .500 even if we don’t have a slasher, or wing defender, or great lowpost defensive rotations. We do enough right, enough of the time to get wins. I look forward to seeing that in the playoffs too.
