Every play that brought us back deserves some of KA’s video breakdown…
The most important piece of the super comeback is being ignored by most everyone here.
The most important piece of the comebackis DeAndre Jordan, for two reasons:
1. Without Jordan’s lumbering listlissly around the court in the first quarter, the Clippers would never have been in such a deep hole (18 points down after the first quarter).and there never could have been this super comeback could have never happened.
2. Jordan was on the bench for the comeback and if he hadn’t been on the bench, it would have never happened.
50% shooting, 2 blocks, 8 boards, no fouls in 20+ minutes played. We’d take you seriously if you could back up your claims, watched the games, and didn’t post the same predictable crap over and over again.
If you want to post from a soapbox and never defend your claims, start your own blog. We’ve been over you for more than a year.
p.s. DJ and Reggie were covering and shutting down Z-Bo. Blake was on Gasol.
Jordan should not play anymore in the playoffs unless there is some kind of emergency. He is that bad. If he does play significant minutes, the Clippers will not win the series and they may not even win another game. Again, he’s that bad.
Mark Gasol was 5-6 against Jordan in the first quarter and also had 4 assists. That’s the worst torching even Jordan has ever had, and that kind of torching is going to go on game after game if Jordan plays.
The Clippers obviously changed up things on Gasol after the first quarter, and after that the only basket he got was the dunk at the buzzer to end the half. He had no baskets in the second half.
Reggie Evans and Kenyon Martin seem too small to guard Gasol, but small or not, they are better at it than the Defensive Delusion of DeAndre DeGiant DeSaster.
my god you are ridiculous.
Great night for Nick Young. We’ll see how he does in the rest of the playoffs. Maybe getting rid of the Mohawk was what he needed.
Three point shooters can hit hot streaks, and last night he certainly hit one. Unfortunately, cold streaks usually follow.
Other things to worry about:
Zack had a terrible night, 3-13 and 6 points. He probably will have some good games ahead in the series.
Paul looks like he’s not fully healed. He didn’t shoot very well (5-12) and he only got to the line 5 times.
Griffin was only so-so last night, and unfortunately, that’s typical of the way he usually plays against Memphis. Zack often has gotten the best of him the last two seasons. One reason is that because DeAndre is such a dud, Memphis doubles off of him onto Griffin and makes life difficult for him. That may not change.
No Butler. Nick Young may take his spot, but I doubt if Young has another game like last night.
Here’s the other side of the story.. The griz blog. Ha!
If we can shut down Rudy and OJ we can take this.
I think Vinny needs to put K-Mart in to body up and hassle Rudy. He’s got the length to defend him and can stop drives to the hoop. Reggie can take up backup 4 duty. Also, it might be worth matching Bledsoe up on Mayo. If we can shut down their wings and continue to do the work we did in the paint, I think we can easily take this series.
We absolutely need to deny Gay and Mayo, they were able to do whatever they wanted last game.
We have the answer for mayo bledsoe. Rudy gay idk
Rudy Gay can be slowed down by multiple looks, and in crunch time, KMART! The Clippers have to find a way to force the ball into Z-Bo’s hands, until he proves he can beat us. Z-Bo is no scrub, but we all know he is not the same Z-Bo as from last year. He’s out of shape, but he still thinks he can carry their team offensive. I guess all that rest the Reggie received down the stretch is paying dividends, but don’t let anyone tell you that was Vinny’s idea, because then it might actually appear as though he planned something, but we all know Vinny has been calculating his steps through out this entire season, as far as resting players, practice time and what not. But resting Evans down the stretch? Nahh, he was just too stupid to play Evans, right???
Hey DeMote, do you still think Nick Young is a worthless player? Do you think the “soap opera actor” who is about to win Executive of the Year should have kept Brian Cook instead?
I think Nick Young had a great game, and it was in the most important game of the year. One game does not make a whole season or a playoff or even a 7 game series. Sure was a fun game though.
The soap opera actor’s main contribution to the game last night was that he signed DeAndre Jordan to what is the worst deal of any deal done this year by any team, a $42 million cap eating contract that will strangle the Clippers going forward. He also didn’t get a legitimate NBA center to replace Kaman, and now consequently the Clippers have the worst starting center in the Western conference playoffs, by far.
The result is the worst starting center by far in the Western conference playoffs was torched in the first quarter by Mark Gasol, who went 5-6 for 10 points along with 4 assists in the first quarter. That defensive effort on Gasol, along with the related pitiful defense of listlessly lumbering around the court so other Memphis players were left wide open to score at will, dropped the Clippers into a deep (18 point) hole at the end of the first quarter. The credit for that hole goes to the soap opera actor. Without his digging that hole for the Clippers to climb out of, they never would have been able to make the super comeback. So thanks to the soap opera actor for the thrills for that part.
Of course, the only way they could make the comeback was by keeping the worst center in the Western conference playoffs on the bench for all of it. Can’t credit the soap opera actor for that part.
In general, the soap opera actor’s main effect on the Clippers’ success this season is that they would have had had a much better team and likely would have won the West if they had gotten even an average center, instead of continually starting the worst center in the Western conference that the soap opera actor saddled them with.
They also would have had an even better team going forward if they still had the Minnesota pick, which will be a better player than Caron Butler and a much better player than DeAndre Jordan and would have only cost a rookie contract against the cap. Instead, the soap opera actor way overpaid for Chris Paul and included the Minnesota pick in that deal when he didn’t have to.
The main reason the Clippers are as good as they are has nothing to do with the soap opera actor. He’s just riding this horse, trying to hang on ahd waving to everyone that he should be getting the credit. The main reason they are as good as they are is because of Blake Griffin. The soap opera actor has nothing to do with it. Chris Paul came to the Clippers because of Griffin, and all the soap opera actor had to do with it is that he way overpaid for Paul in the trade.
The soap opera actor way overpaid in the future (Jordan’s big 4 year salary and giving up the Minnesota pick needlessly) in order to add to the team this season. He did it so he could look good in the short run even though his moves were damaging to the Clippers in the long run.
He can redeem himself somewhat if he can get rid of Jordan in the off season . . . for anything. . . and then sign Dwight Howard.
DeMote, this may be, and I say this with full understanding of the magnitude of this statement, this may be the stupidest post you have ever had on this site. The reason they are in this position is because Blake Griffin and not Chris Paul? You do know they had Blake last year right? I seem to remember the team not being so hot without Paul on the team, with just Blake to lead us. You think that what will probably end up being the 10th pick will be better than Caron? If you watched basketball or had any sense for how the league works, you would know that the Clippers are one of the worst drafting teams in the history of sports. You think they will nail a mid lottery pick, when, before Blake, they even managed to routinely screw up number one overall picks?
The picks we did get right were Odom, Gordon, and Tyson Chandler. Although the problem with Odom was that his immaturity early on in his career prevented him from developing a quality player until after he left. Tyson Chandler took years to develop even though we traded him and turned him into Elton Brand. Gordon was good and it took Cuttino Mobley getting traded for Dumbleavy to start playing regularly. I would even go so far to say Al Thornton was a quality draft. The tools for him were all there but he was lazy and never wanted to work on his game to get better. The Olowakandi pick was the worst pick. The Clippers since the Olowakandi draft haven’t been too bad…. although the Korolev and Paul Davis picks would rank up there as some of the Clips’ worst picks but that happens with every team.
Melvin Ely, and Wilcox we not good picks either.
*were not good picks either.
DeMote, NBA big men take 4-5 years to develop. DJ’s already developing. Give him next year with a real coach after he’s sought out help from Shaq, Chuck, or the Dream and let’s see what he can do next year. You don’t know anything about basketball.
I like the public service announcement type, investigative report they did on Blake Griffin, kinda behind the lines segment they had on Sportscenter, where they recounted the All-star weekend from last year, the slam dunk contest, the close friend who passed-away,and it was all a touching story. Wait a second, I know Blake is a good guy anyway. Why are they all of a sudden trying to rebuild this guys image. I’m fine with Blake Griffin already, I know he’s a stand up guy, and not the dirt ball they’ve been trying to peg him as, with the video on flops, and highlighting the flagrant fouls he took upside his head. The media, always trying to tear someones image up, just so they can try to build it back up again. Unbelieveable!
If they could only rebuild Marv Albert!!… Wait, they did!! lol
