Report: MarShon Brooks to the Clippers?

Charlie what do you think of this purposed trade? Would Marsheezy be the clipps answer at the starting two position?

If this goes through, Clippers would have an amazing 9 headed dragon on there team. CP3, Blake, Chauncey, Caron, DJ, Bledsoe, Crawford, Brooks, and Lamar. That isnt very shabby to me. Plus we still could sign a Center, and we always have Thompkins in our roster who could surprise a few. Clippers just keep getting better and this could be another great steal we pulled off. That is however, if this actually happens

Whenever I got the Nets on leaguepass, it seemed like to me that Brooks was more comfortable playing without Deron Williams than with him, as he’s a very capable shot creator with less experience playing off the ball. That makes sense, since he was an insanely high usage player during his 4 years at Providence. He showed flashes of scoring talent last year, so for me the key is whether he can learn to play better and better as a secondary player, playing off CP and the P/R action the team loves to run. Excited to see whether he’ll develop!

The Clippers didn’t know they would have a shot at Brooks when they signed Crawford. Hindsight is always 20/20. Plus any talent we bring in now, can be traded mid-season.

Ho-hum on MarShon Brooks.

No way is this an especially good addition. He was the 25th pick last year in what was a weak draft because many undergraduates stayed in school due to the lock out. If those players instead had gone into the draft like they’d planned, Brooks would have been a mid second round pick.

He shot a mediocre 42% from the field and a mediocre 31% from three land. He shot a relatively poor 76% from the line. Crawford is a better free throw shooter (85% for his career) and a somewhat better three point shooter (35% for his career, two years ago in Atlanta he shot 38% in threes, which is when people started thinking of his as a shooter). So in general Crawford seems to be a better shooter than Brooks if you figure last season in Portland was an aberration that won’t repeat itself.

Brooks is a younger version of Crawford, and he’s on a cheaper contract, but other than cost and age, the two players are nearly duplicates of each other. They’re identical in size, both 6’5″ and 200 pounds.

I really don’t see how Brooks is better than Crawford, and I don’t think Crawford is particularly good.

Last seaon 45 guards are listed in the ranking for 3 pt % shooting. Crawfor was #44 at 29% (though it was an off season for him) and Brooks ranked #39 at 31%. So neither were good three point shooters last season.

By comparison, Randy Foye ranked #15 at 39%.

So . . . just exactly how is either Crawford or Brooks an improvement over Foye???

did crawford sign yet dont they have to wait until tomorrow the 11 for free agents to sign. so cant they say no to the crawford signing. unless the verbal agreement cant be reversed for the signing of crawford. i dont know thats why im asking.becuz it wouldnt make much sense to keep crawford if we had brooks. crawford would be too much of a luxury and we can get some depth from the mle and get a big or perhaps a sf to back up butler or to start

“Rick Bonnell: I’m told the #Bobcats would be interested in Humphries if he signs a 1-year deal (vs. 4 years) Wouldn’t have the same interest in Brooks.”

So the worst team in the NBA isn’t interested in Marshon Brooks, but most people here are trying to sell the Clippers getting him as something really good? Hmmm, typical.

Everytime the Clippers make a bad deal, they must send their PR people out to post raves about what a great thing it is. Well, I doubt anything comes of this, so it likely doesn’t matter.

Getting Odom was a good thing because he can play center instead of Big Smokey.
(Big Smokey because he’s always torched so bad that by the end of the game he’s nothing more than a big smoking heap of cinders.)

The Clippers need to stop fiddling around with all of these little pointless things, and instead they need to focus on getting Dwight Howard.

Indiana says they’re matching the Portland max deal for Hibbert. It’ll be interesting to see what the ripple effects of this are on the other free agent centers, like Brook Lopez.

The best thing for Lopez to do is to go out and sign a big contract with some team he wants to play for. Even if the Nets then match it, they still can’t trade him for awhile. Lopez is in a super high leverage position, and I don’t see why he’d allow himself to be dealt to Orlando.

Same with Humphries, and he’s not a restricted free agent. Same with most of the other pieces mentioned in the trade.

I really doubt this trade happens. It’s a bad thing for too many people and teams. It’s a good deal for the Nets and for Howard, but it’s a bad deal for everyone else, teams and players.

The Clippers are getting too many 2s and 3s and is going to create a problem with minutes. They need to make some trades and find a solid starting center if they want to really get to the next level. DJ needs to improve in rebounding, scoring and shooting free throws. I bet Lamar closes the 4th quarter with DJ watching and pouting like last season.

if Brooks is so good ..why would the Clips be his third team so far…

Jamal Crawford is the Ish! when he went to Portland, I was like Damm! why can’t we pick up a guy like that? now that we got him. all I keep hearing in bad shot selection. can’t rebound. wait till he starts closing games out for us. all those ten point leads we let slip away last year. it’s not going to happen this year! JC!!!
