Found Objects: Pop Culture Edition

News and notes continue to trickle in as training camp is finally under way. I thought I’d start off this Found Objects with (what I hope) will be the last mentions of the E! Network or reality shows:

  • Alright, the Clippers have good chemistry and are a tight group. We get it! But just in case we didn’t get it, Matt Barnes apparently made DeAndre Jordan his best man for his recent Las Vegas nuptials (Chris Paul and Blake Griffin also in attendance).
  • But here’s why Clipper Nation is hoping Basketball Wives LA is not required viewing: Barnes says the reality show screwed up his home life the first time around. And he suggests it probably didn’t do Odom any favors either.
  • Did I mention Clipper Nation doesn’t want to have to watch Khloe & Lamar or Keeping Up with the Kardashians either? Odom, at least partially, “blames Khloe & Lamar for ruining his basketball career and is just grateful that he has a second chance with the Los Angeles Clippers.” Hopefully, Lamar is victorious in his battle with Mama Kardashian.
  • Finally, some relevant on-court information! Madelyn Burke and the good people working on LACtv have been cutting together early training camp footage. And if you look at the 2:44 mark, and again at 3:39, you’ll get a taste of Blake Griffin’s retooled jump shot. Best as I can tell, the hitch is gone and Griffin extends his arm up in the follow-through instead of forward.
  • And if you’re looking for an even more dramatic shot retool, check out DeAndre Jordan’s new shot at the 0:27 mark. He brings the ball up to his forehead and extends in one smooth motion. Swishing the free throw helps in the confirmation bias.
  • Chris Paul is a Justin Bieber fan and Lil Chris is his beard. (Or maybe CP3 is just excited for Lil Chris):

  • And rounding things out with a final bit of silly, Trey Kerby over at The Basketball Jones came across a peculiar video of DeAndre talking about farting on old ladies. In reality, it looks like a promo spot for The NOC (makers of the fine TuffJuice family video). Still, that’s a pretty random soundbyte to pitch for a promo spot.
