The Clippers held an open scrimmage at USC’s Galen Center today, with the bench (white team) tying the starters (blue team) 31-31 after two 12-minute halves. Chris Paul, Chauncey Billups, Trey Thompkins and Grant Hill did not participate — Hill isn’t injured, so he likely sat out for rest purposes.
Key players on the blue team: DeAndre Jordan, Blake Griffin, Caron Butler, Willie Green, Eric Bledsoe, Ryan Hollins
Key players on the white team: Ronny Turiaf, Lamar Odom, Matt Barnes, Travis Leslie, Jamal Crawford
Here’s some video interviews from tonight’s scrimmage:
Blake Griffin discusses the Clippers’ improved defense, his 3/4 court shot at the scrimmage, his knee, the new anti-flopping rules and what his goal for training camp is.
Caron Butler talks about the energy of the crowd at USC’s Galen Center, the state of the team, the anti-flopping rules and why he wanted the Lakers to improve. Butler hadn’t heard of the new flopping policy, so it was funny to see his on-the-spot reaction.
Vinny Del Negro talks about the Clippers’ progression, Blake Griffin’s improvement, the competitive nature of the team’s Galen Center scrimmage, and the team’s pending trip to China.
I’ll have a recap of tonight’s scrimmage up later tonight or tomorrow morning.
