Still wanna hate on jamal crawford?
I have the betting line that Jamal single handedly wins us 6 games this year.
Why is Randolph such a punk?! But good job to Jamal, he tore it up! Also Jamal is Mr. Cliche when it comes to interviews, he always gives gratitude to his teammates. CP and BG didn’t even need to score tonight because of the bench!! Good win!
I didn’t see much of this game. ESPN’s statline has DJ’s turnovers at 9… What was going on with ball security tonight?
It was across the team as a whole: the team was sloppy in terms of execution and was careless with the ball.
That and DJ needs more work negotiating doubles
Did Charlie go insane turn into the Hulk the first time Bledsoe got taken out? How about the second time?
My question for everyone on the panel is why did DJ’s energy level taper off when he came back in the game after getting some rest and it would take him a while to get his activity and energy level back up? I feel like the game ran in spurts. The Clippers would go on a run and then the energy level would taper off for the team as a whole and coincide with Memphis going on a run. The Clippers energy level came in spurts and then went away in spurts. Either they were tired from maintaining that high level of hustle and activity or there is some underlying thing with keeping up the energy. CP looked out of sync with Blake tonight too as they did not connect on a bunch of lob passes. The execution looked sloppy when the energy level tapered off.
On a night when the Clips are pretty shorthanded, Bledsoe gets 17 minutes and Odom gets 16 minutes. How is this team (and this coach) gonna’ keep everyone happy with their playing time when Chauncy, Grant, and Barnes are available?
I think Bledsoe should have gotten more minutes. He needs to learn to pick his spots on when to go Sonic. That one play where he drove coast to coast, he ran faster with the ball than 3 Grizzlies who were sprinting with him trying to stop him and he had that awkward angle on the left side with a right-handed scoop lay-up.
Good point. The roster may never be fully healthy with its group of old and injury prone players. If Hill, Billups, and Barnes all get healthy (along with the sustained health of active roster players) we might see VDN make questionable lineup choices and subs every night/every 3 minutes.
In a perfect world, Billups (and Bledsoe) would steal time from Green. Hill and Barnes would steal time from Butler and the back up bigs. I would be a bit surprised if this team gets totally healthy for more than a week this season. If they did it could be a huge boon for the Clippers by helping keep Paul’s minutes low and the aging players fresh.
Willie greens 29 minutes will be split up and spread out. Caron played a lot of minutes too I wouldn’t expect nearly that much when he has a backup small forward. More like 20-25 I expect. Jamal Crawford isn’t going to be hot every night so he won’t be getting 30 minutes every night either. Turiaf’s minutes might end up being cut a little as well.
Overall plenty of places to cut and give some minutes to players. 15 to barnes when he comes back. When Hill is back 10-15 for both Hill and Barnes. Chauncey will gobble up the majority of Willie Greens minutes. (Green probably will get very limited minutes)
Barnes is healthy he was just suspended. As for green would likely be out of rotation. Billups I say would only play about no more then 25 mins a game. Hill proably no more then 15 and as for bledsoe will get the boost to at least 23 mins
I was pleasantly surprised with Lamar’s activity tonight. His stat line reflect boards, blocks and steal, but I think we should also remember that he had several key outlet passes that got use easy buckets. If he’s at 50% now, I have FULL faith that he’ll get back to his 6th man of the year form. GO CLIPPERS!
And 6 players scoring in double figures (to me at least) is AWESOME.
I know to take +/- with a grain of salt, but Willie Green was +21 over his 29 minutes? What?
I can’t believe Willie Green got 29 minutes. I forgot he was on the court at times because he didn’t make that much of an impact. Bledsoe should have gotten more minutes than Green. I really want to see the lineup of CP3, Bledsoe, and Crawford more often. The entire team played well tonight though. I would love to see DJ’s minutes go up. Crawford played a little more where I want to see Bledsoe’s minutes in and CP’s minutes were down which helps. It’s just unfortunate that VDN won’t play Bledsoe more but let’s see what happens come Friday.
When Crawford plays as well as he did tonight he can play 40 minutes. But yah Crawford and Bledsoe should both get more minutes than Green… every night.
And over on the OTHER side… The Fakers lay another egg. Nash is hurt, which at his age isn’t all that surprising. And why is everyone squawking about how much they have to adjust when our Clips made MORE roster changes? If their all-star mega team goes bust, watch Howard sail out of town like the entitled brat he was in Orlando. Go Clipper Nation!
To be fair though, the Lakers not only changed their entire offense from the SAS first big down gets the ball dumped in to the Princeton offense this year. Plus their entire bench was redone and two new starters were added. They made more drastic and quantitative changes than the Clippers did. What the Clips did was keep the core/starters the same as last year and just filled out the bench. Considering how complicated the Princeton offense is to learn and master and how rudimentary VDN’s offense is (it seemed to be more simple tonight with Crawford isolation and improv with Bledsoe cutting), it is not hard to imagine the new guys picking things up faster on the fly.
If anything though, Nash got kicked in the leg which is an injury that will hurt regardless of what age you are. The Clips I anticipate on sticking it to the Lakers on Friday because they know their offense and if they bring the defensive energy they brought against the Grizzlies but bring it consistently for 48 minutes on Friday, it will be a statement victory.
the art of the screen has been lost. There’s too much R and not enough P with the clippers bigs.
I love this and I apologize in advance for stealing it.
Memo to rudy gay/zach randolph: be careful what u wish for, you just got it! Way to go clips.
It’s the Eric BledShow!!
