I agree to an extent. Deandre had the ball far more than he is used to in that game. Last year and years before the only time he got the ball was if he was wide open. Although now he doesn’t need to be wide open to make a shot or have a play drawn up for him so in the preseason it seemed he could handle a bigger role. The problem is the preseason is very soft basketball, the rough inside game of Randolph and Gasol really did throw him threw a loop and he just wasn’t ready for it. He will be great against soft big man, and teams that don’t double him. It was the combo of him being double teamed and Memphis physical play that caused him to have so many turnovers.

No to Curry. Did you watch that Mavs game against the Lakers, FD? Curry was flat in his shots and it was just ugly. He would be a horrible fit for this team because he is not very mobile and can’t run the floor. He is just a big body that clogs the paint and has very little athleticism. Plus, there are questions about his motor because he ate himself out of the league for a few years. The problem with him is the talent that is there but the lack of a motor to work hard. Yes, his weight and conditioning are better than in previous years but that is because of what playing with Miami did for him last year. He is still a long ways away and bringing him in would affect the locker room.

Plus, Memphis is a bad matchup for Blake. Z-Bo got into Blake’s head and took him out of his game. Blake needs to have the mindset that he wants to kill someone and he’ll play better. He is getting more physical with his defense which is good.
