This reminds me of the “can UK beat the Bobcats thing?” The bench is great, but you’re not going to beat any team with a frontcourt of Hollins, Turiaf(or Fat Odom) and Barnes. They’re a great bench, but let’s not get carried away.

  BJ Mullens and Brendan Haywood (Bobcats’ starting frontcourt) have basically been career backups. They’re better than Hollins/Turiaf, but not insurmountably better. Then it just comes down to how well Bledsoe/Crawford/Barnes play. When Crawford is scoring well, there are teams at the bottom of the league with which that lineup could compete.

    Sure, but I think you guys were getting ahead of yourselves saying they could be 20th best starting lineup. They’d compete with that Bobcats team for sure, and probably also with the Magic and maybe another team or two at the bottom. But all that says is they’d be in the running for worst starting lineup, and not definitively the worst. So yeah, they could compete with some other starters, but no way they’d be 20th best. Still a great bench unit though.

        So Charlotte, Orlando, maybe Detroit? I think that’s it, if you discount teams missing players due to injury. So at best 27th?

        You can’t underrate Sacramento’s ability to not ever pass. Are bench would have a legitimate shot against them. Also if you count teams missing players I’d say they are probably better than the current Washington team and possibly better than the lineups Minnesota/Dallas were trotting out. (Thats arguable though)

    Also, a healthy/useful Odom and Hill changes this completely, but we’re just talking about the current bench.

Odom only player on the clips with a minus today…Send him to the D league to get in shape or leave him at home till he is ready..what a disgrace to people who are struggling to keep a job yet he makes millions and still shows up out of shape….

I think the slim Odom will be back mid December. His IQ is still there, he’s taken open shots and distributed the ball well. He just doesn’t have the legs yet.

Best thing the Clippers did was get rid of Olshey. We can already say the Clippers didn’t need him and are better without him.

  Without Olshey, the core of the roster wouldn’t be what it is. He’s also doing well with Portland with Lillard and Leonard. Portland will be scary good in 3 to 4 years barring the catastrophic injury curse they can’t seem to shake (i.e. Roy, Oden, Walton, Bowie).

    Would the Clippers have still drafted BG? Yes.
    Would the Clippers still have CP3? Yes, Stern gave him to the Clippers
    Would the Clippers have DeAndre? Who knows, not a big deal anyway
    Butler? He’s over paid and not a big deal
    I can give Olshey credit for Billups if he ever plays
    Bledsoe, was that Olshey’s doing I don’t know. Even if it is, he’s did more harm that good.
    
    So without Olshey the Clippers are really woudn’t have changed.
    
    Now on the other side:
    Would the Clippers have Crawford? Considering it was Olshey that let him go from Portland probably not.
    Grant Hill? Barnes? Who knows, but CP3 has more of an influence than Olshey at getting free agents.

      Olshey traded for Bledsoe, helped draft DJ, drafted Aminu, and helped draft Eric Gordon. Olshey playe d ahuge part in helping to stockpile the assets that made the CP3 trade possible. Once CP3 bought in, he played the GM by recruiting Crawford, Grant Hill, Barnes. CP3 was the first domino to fall in order to recruit players.
