Billups to make debut tonight

We knew the time was close, and Dan Woike of the OC Register hinted at the possibility a few days ago. Yet here we are:

Clippers guard Chauncey Billups will make his season debut tonight against Minnesota, a source tells Y! Sports. Billups will start at SG.

And with Billups’ superhuman-like effort to return to playing, we’ll get our first look at what was projected to be the Clippers’ starting lineup; a vaunted starting lineup that posted a gaudy net differential last season in a pretty reasonable sample size.

Time to see how the rotations go. if Green steals anymore minutes tonight Charlie might explode. I can’t wait to see how he looks and fits with the starters. Really good timing. I almost think he would have sat out another week if the Clippers were not on this losing streak. great news!

  While I am terrified about both the minute allocation and Billups’ performance itself, I am also excited. The idea that the rotation was what it was only “until Chauncey returns” never sat too well with me, so it’ll be good to see how it all fits now that everyone will be in their intended roles.

    Billups at his worst is better than Green right now. I’m more excited for his play making ability. any 3s he makes is gravy. watching CP dribble for 20 seconds is starting to wear on me. it felt like the Clippers were extra precautious with his rehab so I think we might be surprised by his game tonight.

      You know, I’m not even 100% convinced that he is better than Green. He’s certainly not better than Green when he’s at his worst. Let’s just keep in mind that he shot 36% from the floor last year. Historically, he’s made up for this with 3s and getting to the line. But he’s slow and a year older, so while we love to bag on Willie Green, I say we wait and see what Chauncey is post-injury until we make that claim.

        Just let your hair down and be an over exuberant fan. There will be plenty of time to be dissapointed if it comes to that. it’s fun to be over excited especially with the way the Clippers have been playing. we have been waiting for him to return since like 2 games after he got hurt. btw, I’m not hating on Green. I just don’t care for his game and have been especially put off with him taking Bledsoe’s minutes.

    My guess is he’ll play around the minutes green averaged just to keep his minutes down as he progress to an actual game. Wish people weren’t so hard on green . He’s our fifth guard and filled in admirably. Can’t pin the last 4 games on him. Also, Vdn bashing is getting old. This is his make or break season though.

I wonder though if LAC will actually run plays and if VDN has made the proper adjustments to how opposing teams are defending them. Having Chauncey back is great because it provides another ball-handler at the 2 and hopefully whatever explosiveness he had left is back allows him to create instead of just spotting up. Willie Green was purely a spot up shooter and having two wings who can break down the opposing defense will do wonders. That solves the offense, but in terms of defense, Derrick Williams had a career night against the Clips last season. It is also a coaching battle as well because Rick Adelman is one of the greatest coaches to never have won a championship along with Jerry Sloan and George Karl.

Should be interesting to see how DeAndre does against that thing the twolves have at center. Hopefully VDN will put him in more than 15 minutes.

Mr. Widdoes lets not forget that chauncey is a savy vet that green could never match so right chauncey worst is still better then greens best. Also I would likebto see cp to play off the ball again. He is a better 3 pt shooter playing off the ball
