What are the odds (% from each blogger) that VDN is the coach next year. How do you keep a coach who decides to NOT sub CP3 for Jamal when Jamal was so bad in the first half (both on offense and defense) and instead subs CP3 for Bledsoe when VDN was preaching about his players stepping up their defensive effort? Shouldn’t he reward defensive effort when he’s been the one preaching it?

Clippers bench vs. Clippers starter. Which team would win?
phil
i was just wondering to myself as i was watching this game, i wonder how the atmosphere of the practices are with the starters vs the second unit? i bet they are super competitive and probably some bragging rights going on.
Patrick
I bet not. Although the backcourts and the small forwards may be comparable talent wise, theres no way that turiaf/hollins and odom could go against Griffin and Jordan.
phil
first team’s defense is horrible compared with the bench. its not a hard thing to imagine bledsoe being able to blow by blake griffin. besides that, i don’t see why the practices wouldn’t be competitive regardless. and if the bench is blowing out teams while the starters are just playing keep up then i’d be bragging too.
Patrick
Why would blake griffin be guarding bledsoe? Its easy to forget that paul is consistently a top defensive player at his position. Bledsoe wouldn’t be able to get many steals against the leagues top point guard which is where a lot of the second units points come from. Our bench is good and its better than some teams starting lineups as we saw today and yesterday against Toronto and Phoenix but it matches up pretty awful against are starters.

Starters. CP3 v Bledsoe even. Green V Crawford even. Barnes would crush butler, bench couldn’t guard griffin. hollins would struggle v Jordan, but would reach 6 fouls in the first 2 mins.
phil
look im not saying the bench is better than the starters that’s ridiculous. im just trying to get at what it’s like at practice, and seeing how good this team chemistry is and the cohesiveness of the team as a whole. im sure they go hard on each other just the same.

I’m going out on a limb here, but I don’t know if Butler’s chemistry is right. I think the back court are tired of how butler struggles on the perimeter.
NumbersNZ
How is he struggling? I am not a huge Butler fan either but he is shooting 44% on 3′s this year good for 16th in the NBA..? Even if you remove his 9 3 game, he is till shooting 40% (top 40). If there is ONE thing that he is doing quite well this year its the 3 ball.

Oh noes… I meant to say defensively. His lateral movement is pretty bad
Patrick
How long do you guys think this winning streak will last? Whats the chance that it breaks the clippers franchise record?(The record is 11 I believe.)
http://twitter.com/DigbyHowis Digby Howis
For the duration of December. Can’t help but think they may have a silly loss in there somewhere.
Patrick
I mean its possible to see them go a long while without a loss.
A big theme in Clipperland is “So close, yet so far.” In the losses against the three lottery teams earlier (Golden State, Cleveland, New Orleans), they were behind and managed to tie. Every time they tried to score to take the lead, something bad happens, and it forces the other team to get a free point, making their chances that much harder to win.
Tim
Its time people wake up.I hate them, but the Warriors are not going away, and definitely not a lottery team the way they’re playing this year. As for the Cavs, and Pelicans, no excuse for losing those games, but Amino is nice!
Michael
Sorry but I strongly disagree that early season Clippers is better than this one, it’s not even close Jovan. Early Clippers were a jumpshooting team who’s bench carried them from start to finish and Blake and CP3 were playing very poorly.
This new 6 game win streak has been happening due to Griffin’s dominance, great post play and FAR less shooting from outside. The team is way more resilient now and doing much better are responding to runs and closing games out.
Blows my mind how andrew and charlie are overrating this clippers team.

You obviously don’t tune in very often. Charlie has been accused of being more pessimistic than he should be and Andrew usually has a heavy dose of stats that influence his opinion. Actually you must not watch many Clippers games either. They have been beating up on top tier teams and are starting to blow out lesser teams.

Man you guys are never happy regardless of how the Clippers win.
http://twitter.com/Albeanu Timmythetooth
If this was 2010 and the goal was to make the playoffs than sure I would agree with this statement. This is 2012 and the goal is to make it to the conference finals or better. There is always room for improvement and our goals as Clippers fans are much higher this year. They are happy with the win but there are always things that they can better at.
Tim
Of course the Clips can improve, and they have improved in one key area.Energy/Intensity. Earlier in the season vs lower tier teams, the Clips would come out flat, and sleep walk through the 1st 3 quarters, and then try to make a run at the end with comebacks and hero ball. The improvement has been to match the intensity from the opening tip, and the carrot for The Bribe is playing time through-out the 4th quarter, if they can pull away, and lose contact. The Tribal knowledge is, build the lead and stay on the floor. Vinny is a freakin’ genius! How long until CP, and Blake forget what its like to play in the 4th quarter? I guess its a nice problem to have.
