Douglas rattled home three straight 3-pointers, and Sleep Train went party bus as the Clippers were serenaded with “Beat L.A.” chants and a barrage of 3-pointers that never seemed to quit. Great, now my bracket is ruined. It’s Last Call.

Defining Moment: Five minutes left in a tied game is apparently Toney Douglas time! Sacramento’s backup point guard rattled off 11 of his 15 fourth quarter points in the clutch, including an impossible deep 3 that served as the dagger.
X Factor: If the Clippers have an Achilles’ heel, it’s defending the 3-point line. Toney Douglas and Marcus Thornton took full advantage, providing 9 of the team’s 14 3-pointers.
Well that was … an explosion. The Kings shot the lights out in the final frame, tallying 38 points and five huge 3-pointers to serve the defenseless Clips a brutal loss.

We know the Clippers’ perimeter defense is a little old, a little stiff, a little slow. If you can get penetration (which is easier when Chris Paul is having guys blow by him and Eric Bledsoe isn’t in uniform), you can get open 3-pointers.
The Clippers have lost 22 games this year. In 18 of those 22 losses, the Clippers have given up at least 7 made 3-pointers.
When the Clippers give up 6 or less 3-pointers, they’re 24-4.
7 seems to be the magic number for the Clippers. Of course, the Kings hit double that amount by going 14-of-28 from deep tonight, so this should probably count as two losses.

It’s the Thought That Counts
I’m usually pretty timid throughout Clipper games, acting as more of an observer than anything else. I treat it like homework. It’s studying; studying that I love to do, but still studying. But tonight was a different night, a night in which I wanted to chuck something right through my television screen.
I was exasperatingly frustrated throughout.
Close out on that shooter! Space the floor better! How the heck is Toney Douglas hitting 35-foot daggers?
So for the first time in my life, instead of sitting in my kitchen quietly watching the game along with my Twitter feed, I threw something at my TV. I know, pretty aggressive, right? I had to do it. It was the only way to temper myself. (Confession: What I threw was a piece of printing paper. Also, it was also more of a light, underhand toss that ended up floating back in the opposite direction of the television, landing about two feet behind my heels. But it’s the thought that counts.)
That’s what kind of a game it was. It wasn’t that it was ugly, just aggravating. I imagine the Clips feel the same way. Seeing the same issues come up over and over again isn’t fun.
