Why is Del Negro reluctant to have DJ more involved in offense early(Disregard the FT shooting which can also benefit the Clippers b/c other team will be in foul trouble)? He is always more energized in defense when he is involved.
Would love to hear you guys discuss playing rotations going forward.
#1 Billups is a Better overall player than Willie Green. Including where to be defensively and ball handling. But, he doesn’t have the speed to keep up with most 2 guards in the league. Green does and is more prone to being in the corner for a 3 instead of an elbow extended 3 that Billups prefers.
So, how about using more of Billups minutes as a backup PG, and then having Green/Bledsoe staggering minutes so that Billups & Bledsoe share the floor more often to have a defensive hawk on the floor.
It certainly felt like some recent losses got off to bad 1st quarter starts as there were defensive breaksdowns on the perimeter.
Billups is excellent in clutch situations handling the ball as he does have good presence and timing on holding the ball.
Remember the play last year to win a game early when Chris Paul was out with the Hamstring. It was an in bounds play where he inbounded to Griffin and then paused for a split second before entering the court, this made his defender snooze for a second, and then he raced behind Griffin for a screen and made the GW shot. That subtle pause he made was brilliant. The defender ended up watching the ball since he wasn’t distracted by the sight of something moving out of the corner of his eye.
good win…blake did not have it today, so why keep on going to him? Lopez could not guard DJ. Feed DJ! Vinny go with the hot hand. Thanks CP3 for saving us again.
Given how everything’s unfolded this season, which combination would you rather have- Lamar Odom with Jamal Crawford, or Reggie Evans, Nick Young, with (a probably grumpy) Mo Williams? (The thinly-veiled premise here being whether the good of picking Crawford over Young outweighs the bad over losing Reggie and Mo for an uninspiring Lamar.)
Part of me really hopes VDN was just trolling us with the momentary Paul, Bledsoe, Barnes, Griffin, Jordan line up. A man can dream. That said, I know we were all excited to catch a glimpse of what intuitively tracks as a devastatingly fun unit to behold. .
I thought I was hallucinating.
Do you feel there’s more fluidity to the Clippers offensive and defensive sets when Billups isn’t on the floor? Not just because the ball is in Paul’s hands more, but because guy like Willie Green (and obviously Bled) actually have some lateral movement, and can run and jump like professional athletes?
Kenyon Martin had 18 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks tonight. Bleep Lamar Odom…
Kenyon doesn’t like VDN
When are we gonna get the beautiful Madelyn Burke on Clipper Blog Live?
So happy about Bledsoe being back tonight. Missed that chaos on the defensive end. I pray he can improve his jumper.
Marc Gasol out indefinitely with an abdominal tear?
