VDN calls a timeout when tony parker got hurt. Good move.
Also, when they start doing Hack a DeAndre, the clippers look clueless. They end up trying to take rushed shots and are even lost defensively because they’re thinking about what to do when they get the ball. This isn’t the only game I’ve noticed this. They just need to let DeAndre take the free throws or take him out and don’t act like you don’t know what’s going on; He should make 50% which isn’t the end of the world.
And they should fire that shooting coach. What a waste.
The shooting coach did wonders with Griffin. Jordan just has gigantic hands and can’t shoot. It’s like trying to shoot a baseball.
That excuse doesn’t fly when you see Kawhi Leonard’s shooting percentages.
I think Jordan’s problem is his focus. Some are born with it, some need a kick in the pants to get it.
It’s not so much his focus but his confidence. When he didn’t get minutes earlier in the season to get his reps in meaningless games, it affects him now because he has not had the in-game practice and experience to build on. VDN basically sapped DJ’s confidence.
When I heard Griffin and Jordan started working with a shooting coach in the offseason, i resigned myself to throw out Jordan’s FT% for the season.
Griffin needed to take out the hitch and the delay. It seemed like his stroke had something to build on. Jordan’s shot though.. that was probably a complete rebuild. And that’s the kind of thing that can’t be fixed in one season, especially during the season. In games he’s probably struggling to try and incorporate the new elements while resisting the natural tendency to go back to his old habits.
I’d be interested in seeing what both Griffin and DeAndre’s shots are like next season moreso than this one.
CP just is clueless vs Spurs. It’s like he has no clue what to do. And its been like that since New Orleans. I expected him to really have a great game but I should have known better. It’s like he over thinks the game to try to outsmart Pop.
I’m going to just get use to the idea that they will open the playoffs vs Denver and pray for the best
Blake seems to have a left leg injury and now a right leg injury. Just sit him till the playoffs
Why is Griffin getting so frustrated?
Just saw on twitter he is playing with a strained calf. Maybe he can’t play though it well. He needs to sit if that’s the case because if he’s just going to pass it at the free-throw line, he’s not adding to the offense. He may need it anyway. If they lose, they just have to lose.
God this is just like last year. Both CP and Blake hurt around playoffs. smh
imo, I think he’s frustrated with his effort:production ratio in the post. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again – I think he expends so much energy on offensive which affects his effort on the defensive end. There’s only *so much* bully ball you can play in the post. I’ll evidence this by his increase in mid range jumpers, as he’s fed up with getting bashed up.
It’s also because LAC opts to go for straight post-ups and force feed the ball into the post versus running Griffin around some screens to set him up into the post with deep position. If you look at how SAS run some of their sets to get Duncan into the post, it’s a thing of beauty because they do not merely force feed the ball down low. All of the curls are decoys to get the ball into the post.
if the clippers play San Antonio in playoffs they need a big game from Blake, Jamal Crawford and Bledsoe, for some reason as great as CP3 is he struggles big time against this team, they seem 2 have his number, I see growth in Deandre game but he needs 2 relax when he is at the foul line shoot softer not so hard, and aim 4 the backboard, I hope DJ learn from this game what you cannot do with seconds left, u must stay up on your man because he will get the game winner and make u look stupid – Coaching will play an important part during playoffs VDN as grown somewhat but what seems 2 be lacking is his protection of his players especially Blake because he gets pounded almost every game – if you start protecting watch how it will benefit the team with wins – like 2 see more of the d-leaguers may need them come playoffs they look quick speed kills u can never have enough
