How would you guys rate Vinny’s substitution rotations in this game? Also I feel like the timing of some his timeouts were critical in managing the game. Gives me some hope for the playoffs.
Is the Paul-Bledsoe lineup so affective in part because they take place in these random spurts when teams aren’t prepared for it? Would they be as affective together even if teams were scouting for them?
It’s effective because Bledsoe is the team’s second-best cutter and a great finisher/driver. He takes a lot of pressure off of CP3, which is what Billups is supposed to do. Billups is just injured (and old and slow) so Bled is a better option.
I’m curious how Vinny rotation would be on the playoff. The greatest benefits of being a deep teams is that he have options. As we have seen today, Grant Hill was no doubt part of the reason we won the game (where have he been?), Eric Bledsoe was the X-factor and the Grizzlies killer, and Willie Green who had been consistent throughout last few weeks. With Chauncey Billups and Caron Butler coming back on the horizon, how Vinny would be able to distribute those minutes to everyone especially when everyone play so well? Also, would Vinny will have enough “cajones” to tell Chauncey to sit out in the playoff and be another assistant coach? I love Chauncey, but I’m worried if he would disrupt any good feeling Clippers have been going the last couple weeks.
G. Hill was great today. I agree, Billups need to be used in a similar fashion to how Grant Hill has been used this season. Only in emergency situations. Willie Green has earned his minutes
With Willie’s recent play, are he and Bledsoe combined an advantage over Chauncey? Should Chauncey come off the bench with the second unit?
For sure, Billups is a good player, but too slow defensively, so his presence compromises the team D. He’s best used when there isn’t a big threat on the perimeter, such as against a 2nd team, and for sure NOT against a passing team like the Spurs
At this rate, Willie Green has earned a spot in the rotation when Billups comes back. Green has a relatively low rate of making mistakes, and has been better than advertised defensively (He knows where to be and doesn’t gamble excessively)
Billups has to come back off of the bench IF he comes back.
And yes, Green is shooting well. Off of curls and open looks including the corner 3
How will Lamar Odom factor in the playoff? Lamar shot look great tonight. Can he stay consistent throughout the playoff run?
LO’s shot has always been inconsistent. So, we’ll be riding that roller coaster in the Playoffs. But, he is great at help D, and in trapping, so hopefully, he’s able to make a net positive impact when he’s on the floor.
By the way, you guys are the best in the Truehoop network at delivering content. 48MOH is good as well. Thank you for the great work!
Is Bledsoe a mini Pippen in a defensive sense?
not in the sense of ball handling or decisions….
That’s why he said “defensive sense”
I don’t like that comparison, though. I just like Bled as a ridiculous shot-blocking, ball-hawking guard.
Clippers ran some ‘screen the screener’ on the primary P&R action… one particular instance, Gasol ran straight through Barnes who was screening Griffin.
I like to see that deeper level of offensive creation
Deandre Jordan played well on offense and defense energy energy energy we need that in the playoffs Eric Bledsoe is playing like the old Eric that we are used 2 welcome back Eric we need u 2 play like this come playoffs Lamar Odom welcome back we need this come playoffs shoot open shots 40 year old Grant Hill was helpful on defense and aggressive on offense with great results need 2 play like that come playoffs because u provide unselfishness and know how that is needed in big games Ryan Hollins playing well keep it up especially in playoffs keep ur cool and don’t foul when not needed clippers need him come playoffs Willie Green played well did the little things unselfish player need that in every playoff game
