In his latest commercial, this time promoting his Super.Fly 2s for the Jordan Brand, Blake Griffin finds the perfect pick-up basketball complement to his aerial talents — D’arryl Drain.
Drain, a goggle-eyed teenager brimming with confidence, loves to shoot whenever the ball is passed his way. The problem, of course, is that he’s never even close to hitting rim (he actually turns his vision away when he shoots), making the ball fly in all sorts of directions.
This plays to Griffin’s strengths — namely, catching anything within two stratospheres of a basketball hoop — and the duo form a nice partnership once Griffin catches onto Drain’s oblivious schtick.
It’s a funny commercial, and it’ll be interesting to see if this is a one-time occurrence or if Jordan chooses to make it into an ongoing series. Either way, it’s good to see Griffin brushing off the critics and playing into his “All he does is dunk” perception.
And who knows, with all of the rumored internal turmoil from last season, maybe Chris Paul can learn a thing or two from Dr. Drain about how to make Blake happy.
