What do you guys think a win like tonight does towards dispelling the national media perception that the Clippers are a soft team?
The “soft” perception will remain until the Clippers win a title. The media only cares about the playoffs because that’s the place where the pretenders are filtered over a number of rounds so that the Finals feature only the “best of the best.” Being the best in the regular season does nothing except to work against you. It happened to the Dallas Mavericks when they were upsetted by the 8th seeded Golden State Warriors some years ago.
Another example: the Cleveland Cavaliers with LeBron James, lost to the 4th seeded Boston Celtics in 2010, which set up the Lakers-Celtics revenge match. If conspiracy theorist taught us anything, there’s the notion that certain ups in the league wanted to keep the old status quo alive. Then the Big 3 in Miami Heat happened.
Did the Wolves just choke or should the credit go to the Clippers?
Clippers fans should REALLY stop this, give the damn credit to the team for once. It’s incredible how many times this type of question pops up saying that maybe the other team that lost and not Clippers that won.
Crazy game. Atrocious officiating, Clippers missed 5 straight shots at the rim in Q4, Wolves missed 4 or 5 from within 5 ft of the cup in OT. Exciting to watch in a train-wreck kind of way.
what a game luv it nice win for clippers kudos 2 everyone – boy the wolves cannot catch a break they sure no how 2 lose a game did doc just out-coach alderman?
How could no one even mention Williams/Cousins?
They haven’t played enough games together for a big enough sample size.
Great discussion. Thanks guys.
Mark Davis, Doc sure knows this referee. Besided questionable call in that Kevin Love half court shot, he also got that flagrant 2 against Barnes and who knows which bad calls more. But is also the same referee that had tons of those against Boston and Rondo, and it was certainly not just once. There are even articles talking about that.
