Any thoughts on the evolving (perhaps due to injury) crunch time lineups?
Considering the struggles of the bench bigs, would you like to see the Clippers utilize more small ball lineups giving Griffin more minutes at the 5? Is 8 minutes of BG with CP3 more valuable than a better offensive and marginally better defensive second unit?
This was a very good, very clean game. I don’t think there’s much to take away from losing this game since it seemed like a lot of luck was involved.
Some Questions (that don’t necessarily need answering, but are something to think about):
1. Griffin missed a few left handed layups today; small sample size, or is this actually a shot he has problems with? I don’t really see him shoot it that often, but he shot it 2 or 3 times today and missed all of them.
2. It seems like we talk about missing good shots a lot on here. At what point does that stop being an excuse?
3. Was there anything the Clippers could have done better to win this game? It seemed like they played very good defense and executed well on offense most of the time. There were some bad possessions, sure, but I don’t really know what else they could do. They baited the Blazers into making Aldridge shoot a bunch of long 2s (some open, some contested), which he makes quite a bit, but it was probably still the best shot to give the Blazers. They only had 5 turnovers, etc.
Tonight, I noticed a better close down on shooter despite being rain on 3’s all night. What is your perspective between Doc Rivers’ and Vinny Del Negro defensive system?
Aren’t the Clippers #1 in the league in 3pt defense?
How have the Clips been able to contain elite point guards recently? Is it just coincidental or something more?
Their pick and roll coverage looks a lot better to my eyes.
Doubling the pick and roll and Chris Paul on D. I watch Blazers a lot and Lillard is willing to defer against an elite defender if there are better matchups elsewhere. Against Paul almost all other match ups are preferable so Lillard didn’t look to shoot that much.
clippers need an athletic wing player that can defend and shoot open shots first and foremost
What a great match up! Lilliard vs CP3, Blake Vs Aldridge. Great game to watch. Tough team and tough crowd up in Portland that’s for sure. We need a 100% healthy Matt Barnes. His confidence isn’t there and has been shooting very poorly. Even though we lost on a tough back to back the team shows improvement and its finally showing an identity. Can’t wait for playoffs and watch the full squad working together injury free.
This guy Dudley is grinding my gears! just read that he didn’t score! Yikes!. It’s probably stamina related with him! on a back2back and all. No excuses thought! They sold him as a Stud.. and all we got was a Dud!
