The Clippers have re-signed Maalik Wayns to a 10-day contract, the team announced Wednesday afternoon.
Wayns was a member of the Clippers until Jan 5, when the Clips waived him along with his partially guaranteed contract that would have become guaranteed later in the week. Now, the Clippers found a way both to elude the guarantee deadline and to keep Wayns in red, white, and blue.
Wayns spent 33 games on the Clippers to start the season, but didn’t actually see the floor once, sitting out with an injury to his left meniscus. As a rookie in 2012-13, he did actually get into six games with the Clips – along with the 21 more he got into earlier in the year when he was with the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Clippers now have three point guards on the roster with Darren Collison, Wayns, and the newly-signed Darius Morris. With Wayns, the Clippers’ roster now is full with 15, though that may not hold true for long with both Wayns and Morris on 10-day deals.
