Thoughts on signing Hedo for the rest of the season? What a great comeback.
WOW, what a come back!
Lots of credit to Doc. In that up by 12 and down by 17 stretch, Clippers panicked and they were taking bad shot after another – with Crawford leading the way. Blake was back in the line up but he couldn’t get the ball to make a play.
In one time out, Doc got them to calm down and run the offense properly, Clippers made a run. In the next, the emphasized getting stops and they really did. After that, what looked almost impossible at first, not only looked possible but it actually happened.
This reminds me of the open scrimmage that Doc commented about this, how guys gotta fight and make things happen. That Playoffs teams don’t simply give up until the very end.
The mental part of being up by 12 and down by 17 is the major thing about it. Lots of people remembered that VDN got them to make a huge come back but being down by a lot and climbing steadily between 3Q and 4Q is mentally, a lot different than the other team climbing back between 3Q and 4Q.
The momentum was with Dallas, the time was also in Dallas favor, mentally, that’s pretty tough and Clippers played like a Playoff team, they played like champs in that last stretch. That really reminded me of the Celtics.
I’m not sure how recently it happened, but did CB Live notice that Clippers rebounders had their hands replaced with mittens?
Is the occurrence of the Clippers failing to secure loose balls a team wide plague or is it a quality of most teams (especially those I watch infrequently)?
With the Hedo signing, does this mean that the Clips will try and trade for a back up big with one of the Clips wings? If Marc Gasol returns back to big minutes would that open the possibility that the Clips try and trade for Koufos?
What was the prevailing weakness that Doc River’s system was supposed to fix for the Clippers, but has ultimately failed on? Can that weakness only be fixed with a change in personnel, and if so, who? If not, what tweaks would there need to be? Doc Rivers was trying to prove that it’s the system, not the players which make the defense. Is that true given tonight’s thriller?
You can’t say his system has failed when you see the progress the defense has made. That and it was just one game.
