Wow… That was unexpected. The Clippers committed 18 turnovers against the Hawks and turned in some real sloppy play. Is there anything to blame for this sub par performance other than the team’s sloppy, lackadaisical effort tonight?
Who out of Golden State, Houston, and Portland is our best first round matchup? Who is the worst?
Rockets, because Clippers have Sudden Death rights. They won three in a row against them, so expect an automatic sweep.
Avoid the Dubs at all cost. They have their number, they know all their weaknesses, and they got Blake Griffin ejected.
Regular season record not always translates well in the post-season, so no, there is no such a thing as an automatic sweep.
But even so, I’d also chose the Rockets. The thing about Houston is that they play at a pace that Clippers also like and I think that has helped the Clippers a lot, Doc doesn’t have to worry about making the pace their way. Not only that but both Blazers and GSW have a respectable PF, this can lead to foul trouble and Houston has yet to show they can contain Blake. So defense is something I’d think about when matching up with the Clippers. In the end I’m not sure there will be much difference chosing between these 3.
Griffin’s ejection should never be a parameter for nothing from that game on. From the point that league was embarassed and recognized their horrendous mistake, that will hardly happen again and if they try it again, they are going to be punished, just like it happened some games after when someone went hard on Blake and got ejected.
The Clippers have a 15th spot available. Whoever they sign at this point will ultimately determine the fate of J.J. Redick. If they sign a big man, that means J.J. Redick will be healthy for the playoffs. But if they sign another wing (in this case, Bobby Brown), then J.J. Redick is out for the season. What type of player should the Clippers go after, knowing that adding another wing confirms the thought of Redick being out for the playoffs?
With Crawford back, Collison able to play minutes at the 2, Green, Bullock, and Barnes, the 2 spot is covered. Barnes, Dudley, Granger, and Bullock have the 3 spot covered. There is no point in signing a wing. The Clippers are already in the luxury tax. They’re not going to sign a 15th player unless another injury happens.
So they’re going to the playoffs with only 14 players?
It’s not “only”, they are not allowed to dress 14 players anyway and the rotations get shorter during the Playoffs, so he is spot on, unless more injuries happen or something very out of ordinary, there is really no need for that.
Why don’t Doc play more Reggie Bullock?
The Hawks kept getting close. They were a botched free throw away from the Clippers losing this game. You don’t want to put Bullock in this situation.
clippers backcourt defense is an issue always on how far the clippers go depends on it because most of your shooting is and will be coming from the backcourt so cp3, collision, jamal, jj, green have got 2 play pressure defense smart defense rebound defense I am not sure this group can do it – win is a win but let’s see how clippers guards play against phoenix and golden state will they make the grade and stop them?
