It’s SoCal versus NoCal in the first round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs. The Los Angeles Clippers will be the third seed in the Western Conference, and the Pacific Division champions will face the sixth-seeded Golden State Warriors in a best-of-seven series.
Game 1 of the series will take place at Staples Center on Saturday, April 19, at 3:30 P.M., Eastern Time (12:30 P.M. Pacific). ABC will broadcast Game 1. Game 2 will be on televised on TNT Monday, April 21, at 10:30 P.M. Eastern (7:30 P.M. Pacific) in Los Angeles. The Clippers were 34-7 at home this season, including 2-0 versus the Warriors.
Games 3 and 4 will take place at Oakland’s Oracle Arena, where the Warriors were 27-14 this season, including 2-0 versus the Clippers. Game 3 will be Thursday, April 24 at 10:30 P.M. Eastern (7:30 P.M. Pacific) on TNT, while Game 4 will be on Sunday, April 27 at 3:30 P.M. Eastern (12:30 P.M. Pacific) on ABC.
Games 5, 6, and 7 will be played as necessary; all times for those games are to be determined. Game 5 would be in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 29th. Golden State would host Game 6 on Thursday, May 1st. Game 7 would be in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 3rd. ABC will broadcast a potential Game 7.
This will be the first ever postseason meeting between the two teams, who have been in the same division since the 1978-1979 season. This is also the highest seed the Clippers have earned; Golden State will look to win a series as a 6th seed for the second straight season. It will also be the first playoff series between two California teams since the 2002 Western Conference Finals between the Sacramento Kings and eventual champion Los Angeles Lakers.
