Could you see Doc Rivers using Reggie Bullock in this series as a Kevin Durant stopper? I know he’s inexperienced and a rookie, but are the other small forwards really effective in guarding Durant?
There’s no such thing as a KD stopper. You can only hope to slow him down. The only way to do that is to play up on him physically and push him around. The Clippers basically have to adopt a bruising style of play that Memphis used. You would think the Clippers are well-versed on the art of banging having played Memphis two years in a row in the playoffs.
KD really wasn’t the problem tonight. He didn’t shoot that efficiently and seemed to settle for more jump shots. The problem was Westbrook. He disrupted too many plays on defense and got to the lane with ease against Paul. Collison handled him much better. Collison can play the #1 and Paul the #1 when DC is in the game.
What kind of creative ways can we get Blake going offensively? Possibly off ball screens?
Blake and DJ need to play well in the home games.
They’ve been below average in the first two.
How can you let your 5’11 point guard be picked up like a rag doll by Kendrick Perkins and you not get in his face!!!
I’m sorry, they looked so weak there and intimidated. I mean not a word to him by anybody on the floor. No even a bump. Just wow
I expected a loss, but I wanted to see a closer game. The way some players played I got the feeling some were fine with getting one win. So disappointed in Blake. He looks lost vs Ibaka and Kendrick on rebounds and offense. It make no sense how out of position he and DJ are vs good rebounding teams. If they can’t figure out how to win the rebounding (especially offensive) they will continue to struggle. CP cannot go off for 32 every night hitting 8 or 9 3s.
I didn’t get a chance to watch the game, but I think your comment is just panic and overreaction. They’ll make adjustments and come back strong for game 3.
You can’t panic when its about something that has been an issue for the team and rebounding has been one vs OKC . didn’t say they would lose the series, i said they will struggle. playing one of the top 4 teams in the nba is already hard but you can’t keep getting out rebounded by double digits, which they have in both games.
OKC was more physical. They played like a football team or soccer team getting into passing lanes and disrupting plays. There were a lot of careless turnovers by the Clippers, and a failure to grab loose balls (especially by DeAndre Jordan). Blake Griffin had trouble on the left block (he had the same issue against Green @ Golden St). He needs to be moved to the right block so he can use the baseline with his strong hand, or he needs to be spaced better so that even when Blake gets pushed away from his right hand jump hook, he still as a good angle to the basket with his left hand. Collison was a bright spot as he was able to handle Westbrook defensively. Big Baby Davis and Redick also played well. Paul had no chance tonight. They need to force Westbrook and Durant to take outside shots and be volume shooters. Clippers will be better at home but they need to address the rebounding and physicality issue.
