Over at ESPN, Brian Widhorst offers his insights as to how the Los Angeles Clippers can land LeBron James without actually giving up Blake Griffin:
So where exactly were Brian’s thoughts on ‘HOW’ the Clips can get LBJ w/o giving up Blake? All he said was “sign-and-trade.” I think any Clips fan with even a remote idea of their cap situation already knows that it would take DeAndre and then some combo of Redick, Dudley (good luck getting rid of him), Barnes, Bullock, etc.
Typically I don’t complain about posts (after all, it’s our choice whether or not to click), but this is a pointless video.
That is all.
LeBron could also sign for whatever available cap we could free up, or even one of the exceptions, and then sign a full max once we have cap space next offseason.
Assuming he really wants to come here and is willing to outright screw Pat Riley from getting assets in a S/T to do it.
First off Lebron isn’t coming. 2nd, if Lebron was coming he’d only come if BG was there. Like ClipsFan said, that’s DeAndre and Redick.
LeBron is going to re-sign with Miami unless Wade and Bosh are greedy.
Sterling isn’t going away, so forget about any kind of deal happening.
Before Lebron we need to replace Collison,Davies and Granger. There is a slight chance someone will want Dudley or Barnes so our main option is signing good free underated agents salary wise. Thank god we have lots of them this year like Livingston,Augustin and Blatche. For rim protection when DJ sits i think our only option is birdman. Atm these are more vital than Lebron
Now we cant clear cap space this year and with the whole Sterling saga not concluded we cant dream of Lebron. If the hearing of his wife in the start of july authorises the sale of the team then i could see the new owner choosing to exceed the salary cap this year to get Lebron, resign DJ next year with less money and trade reddick, dudley and barnes somehow.
Letting Crawford and Deandre leave is a bad choise imo. The only option if they want lebron is to pay luxury tax this year, resign DJ with the bird rule and if we sign and trade for Lebron then resign Lebron with the bird rule again
There is no chance in hell there’s going to be ANY sign and trade. LeBron opted out because he wants a ring, not money. If he wanted money, he wouldn’t opt out. Miami can pay the most AND not pay taxes. If LBJ wants into LAC, he will take a pay cut and LAC might help him out a little by trading away DJ to give him a few more bucks. No matter what, it will be a huge pay cut in both salary and taxes.
