Lob City Ledger: Clippers 82, Memphis 72

Posted by D.J. Foster On May - 13 - 2012
Clippers win! Here’s my Lob City Ledger over at ESPNLA.com from the gutsy Game 7 win over Memphis. We’ll have a full recap coming tonight, but for now, here’s the Ledger:
Blake Griffin 3-12 FG | 2-3 FT | 4 REB | 0 AST | 8 PTS | -5
GRADE: B

Sometimes ugly is beautiful. Griffin couldn’t find ways to score, but he finally took part in doing all the little things that have led to success in this series for his less-talented backups. Whether it was contesting every shot, wrestling Zach Randolph for position or flying to the offensive glass, there was rarely a scrum Griffin wasn’t involved in. Heart was Griffin’s biggest asset in this game.

Before we let you choose your own disaster, let me explain the first three quarters. No, there is no time — let me sum up.

First problem: Chris Paul can’t penetrate or get in the lane. His hip is limiting his movement. Second problem: Blake Griffin can’t get up and down the floor like he usually does. Third problem: The other starters are providing nothing.

Memphis 90, Clippers 88: Lob City Ledger

Posted by D.J. Foster On May - 11 - 2012

Game 7 awaits. Here’s the Lob City Ledger from ESPNLA.com by our guy Jordan Heimer. I’ll have a special hangover edition recap in the morning.

Blake Griffin 6-11 FG | 5-6 FT | 5 REB | 6 AST | 17 PTS | -2
GRADE: A-

Haters will insist that his perpetual wince was faked. To the rest of us, Blake Griffin clearly looked like a man trying to play through significant discomfort. What Griffin lacked in explosiveness he tried to make up with effort and force, diving and scrapping for loose balls and bullying his way to the rim. But, like with Paul, 80 percent of Griffin wasn’t enough for a Clippers team that struggled to rebound without his contributions.
