Clipperblog at True Hoop

Clipperblog is honored to be filling in over at True Hoop for the dean of the basketball blogosphere, Henry Abbott, today. Though Clipperblog knows that comment on the Dunleavy-Maggette dust-up is long overdue, it's looking forward to catching up on some general storylines over the All-Star break.
When you watch the matchup against Detroit, notice how fluidly they move off the ball. Part of that has to do with each player's versatility -- everyone can pass and everyone can shoot from 20 and beyond. There's a perception that Detroit isn't much of an offensive team, that they win ugly games with grit and defense. But the Pistons rank 4th in the league in offensive efficiency, scoring 111.6 points per 100 possessions. In contrast, the Clippers rank 21st, averaging 106.3 points per 100 possessions. It's worth noting that Detroit averages only 86.3 possessions per game, so in that respect they do grind...but they grind efficiently.

ESPN has purchased the popular and formerly independent True Hoop basketball blog. Henry Abbott, the blog's author, is joining the ESPN staff.
Abbott, a sportswriter, is promising the blog will remain as is. However, he will now have access to ESPN's vast resources. This includes a budget so that Abbott can travel to games and cover them. This includes this week's NBA All-Star Game in Las Vegas. In addition, he will get access to ESPN photographs. Though it's not clear from his post, one would assume he will get access to ESPN's rich cache of statistics and that they will sell ads on his blog as well.
